I was reluctant to watch this file as I thought that it might be similar to Bruce Almighty - fortunately my fears were quickly laid to rest. I found this film to be a lovely, gentle comedy and really great entertainment on a wet Sunday afternoon. What I loved about it was the script's complete awareness of the absurdity of the situation - a US politician (Steve Carell) told by God (Morgan Freeman)to build an ark, well in land and with no rain in sight - I winced with embarrassment for him more than once as the story unfolded, and yet at the same time I chuckled into my cocoa.
I don't think this proports to be an amazing film, and the ending is fairly predictable right from the start, but it is a happy, feel-good film and worth watching. ... Read More:

Just a quick review to warn buyers that 'Ace Ventura - When Nature Calls' is cut by one minute thirty eight seconds to achieve a PG rating (As are all versions available in the UK). Several of the edgier/cruder jokes have been either reduced or removed.
If that doesn't bother you then buy this boxset without hesitation, but if you want the films completely uncut then buy the region 1 DVDs from America.

Carrey plays a miserable, complaining nobody who gets incredible powers after he offers to swop places with God. Some of the scenes after this are terrific fun.
Morgan Freeman is God, and the weird thing is, he suits the role admirably!

Jim Carrey is an incredibly talented actor. Unfortunaly, as a comedian, he is not funny in the slightest. If you into silly voices, facial expressions and general preschool 'now i know my ABC's' manarisms and gags, this film will be sure to please you.
Release Date September 08, 2003
Mawkish to the point of being gruesome, each scene without exception is sunk by a tidal wave of faux sentimentality. The script is awful, the characters feeble. Utterly painful.
Release Date August 01, 2005
A very "obvious" film, with not particularly good acting. It's saccharine enough to make you gag, and insufficiently clever to keep you interested, in my opinion (though I may be alone in that, looking at the other reviews!)

Where do I begin? Ace is just so hilarious, every second that he appears on the screen should have you laughing out loud. The storyline is full of brilliant twists, the jokes are stupid enough to be satisfying to nearly anyone with a decent sense of humour, and Jim Carrey provides his usual mad antics and stupidity that really make this film such a great laugh.

Eddie Murphy was funny as Donkey in 'Shrek' but I'm afraid this thing didn't make the grade. I've seen both 'Nutty Professor' movies and I strongly feel that the Jerry Lewis version was better. That's saying something, because that wasn't especially brilliant.
An inadequate bloke trying to get the girl and the simple Jeckyl/Hyde concepts all make good sense, taken together. There are some very funny bits in the movie. However, it is seriously let down by the bad language, the constant innuendo and references to certain parts of the anatomy. I was watching the counter and fervently waiting for the end before half an hour was past.
Sorry, Eddie. I cannot recommend this. Please, stick to playing a Donkey!
