I have never seen a 'Batman' film in my life but I watched this one because a friend said it was good.
Oh, I'm soooo glad I went to see it. It was without doubt my favourite film of 2008.
Heath Ledger gave an awesome performance as The Joker, it's a shame he died so young. This is the best film he has starred in (either that or 'The Patriot').
Give this a watch, you won't be disappointed!

The movie is great, but this blu-ray comes in a variable aspect ratio, from 2:35:1 to 1:85:1, alternating from thatre and Imax versions...Well, for most people it may look nice, but i didn't like the effect on my 52 inch screen. In wide shots we have a 1:85 aspect ratio and the rest we have the cinemascope effect, so basicaly you see the movie alternating with the black bars and full screen. It looks weird for such a good movie

I recently watched this film and I was really impressed by it!
I've seen so many bad reviews about this film and I had doubts about buying it but I did and I'm so glad now!
People have been complaining about the ending on this film. I think it's great, although nothing much happens. There's so many films that end with a massive exploding finale but this one was pretty calm.
If you enjoyed the film then I'd recommend you reading the book which the film was based on by Cormac Mccarthy.

I am a huge fan of 24 and wasn't disappointed when I saw this the other day. It had a bit of a slow start but quickly gathered pace for a terrific story line and amazing action scenes. All that's left for me to say is "Bring on Day 7!!!".

I bought the first two series of the wire on the basis of comments on the amazon web site. Could it really be that good?. To my eternal shame it was several months before I finally got around to watching it. You should be in absolutely no doubt that this is landmark television. If you never watch another TV series for the rest of your life, you must watch this. The downside is that it is so good that it makes it difficult to watch virtually anything else without feeling that you have been short-changed.

The only problem I have with The Wire is having to get to the end. This, the penultimate series, is by far the greatest drama to have EVER been televised and having just watched the final episode I feel almost empty knowing I have only one more series left to enjoy.
However, I am also looking forward to watching the entire box set all over again. There's always so much happening in The Wire I'm sure there'll be plenty I've missed!
This series concentrated mostly on Baltimore's educational system and provided a platform for some of the finest young actors I've ever seen.

Difficult to compare with a season show as it lacked the tense endings of each hour, but as a prequel one off, I enjoyed this when it was broadcast although it was spoilt by all the ads, so the DVD especially the extra length will be worth the purchase.

It was interesting how characters were being introduced with the US part of the story, and you can see how things might develop with Season 7. I suspect that the new storyline will be somewhat removed from the ones from the past seasons (no middle east terrorists etc).

If you're a fan of 24, then this is a must buy.

OK, this is a fine, brave movie, and I am all for a bit of thought and effort going into a blockbuster, but all the eulogising over Ledgers performance is not only over the top, but does the film a great disservice. Is Nolan's vision what Bob Kane envisaged when he created Batman, not anywhere close. Is it a good screen representation of where the character has been going since Miller re-vamped him for the grunge-geek generation? Yes.
Ledger plays the Joker essentialy the way Brad Dourif has been playing crazy people for nearly 30 years. The mannerisms, the voice, its all there, and is a competent impersonation of an underated and little known actor. This type of show does not come along often enough. Well written, superbly acted, fast paced, compelling and thought provoking. You are hooked after the first 5 minutes. It was late and my husband and I made the mistake of thinking we would only watch about 20 minutes of an episode. We were riveted to our chairs for the entire hour. I'm not even sure we blinked. To those having trouble hearing it, on the "Desktop" at the beginning, use your up, down, left or right remote keys and navigate over to the phone and hit Play. It will give you an option of stereo (2) or monaural (I think, the computer voice is hard to understand) (5). We found it easier to understand on (2) stereo. Then pick the episode you want to watch. Bottom line: This is a great show. Don't miss it!
