This is a brilliant series which shows Stephen Fry travelling around all of America in a black cab. He visits some really unusual places and coupled with his amazing humour and wit its a great dvd! My favourite part was when he was ice fishing, and the ice started to crack! pure tv magic!

I read the other reviews on Amazon & hesitated... Then I thought, well, it's got to be worth a try...
To start with I was bemused. A selection of artists, both known to me and unknown appeared.. I'll be honest,in the past I'd tended , with only a couple of exceptions,to regard performances of Leonard Cohen songs by anyone other than the man himself as rather second rate...
In fact there are some absolutely mesmerising performances here. There are also one or two which for my taste prove what the "skip" button is for...! Opinions will always vary but I have found the more you watch this DVD the more it grows on you and the "skip" button is used less frequently.
It's also very well edited and put together.. Ok, you ... Read More:

A great film and another chapter in the fantastic life and career of Neil Young. This is the most relaxed Neil Young concert of the many that I have and is very reflective of his long career. Brilliant value for money yet again from Amazon. If you buy this make sure that you watch the special features DVD first, showing all the build up to the concert with the interviews and background information, it makes much better watching that way.

Louis theroux is a genius in my eyes and with this set you will agree, the way he works with people to bring out what they try to hide and the way he subtley exploits people with ridiculous, often offensive beliefs is wonderful. There are a few classics missing due to people not giving consent but this is still a flawless line up and a must have for louis fans, documentary fans and people with a love of wry humour

Like the other reviewers here I watched this on BBC Four and it was certainly an interesting documentary. In some ways one time confirmed Reaganite Neil Young went up in my estimation, although he is still comes across at the age of 63 as confused, self centred, and contradictory as a teenager - no doubt one of the reasons he has stayed musically relevant over the years.Unfortunately, the two most politically aware members of CSNY, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, don't really get much credit. At the beginning of the doc CSNY are introduced as legendary anti-war performers, which I confess, as someone who saw them live in 1974, I found rather confusing, because it was in fact CS&N who were overtly anti-war.For those who doubt this and think I'm doing Neil Young ... Really for fans only, and undiscriminating fans at that. Some fascinating archive footage which really takes you back to the grey, grim days of England in the 70s, some good concert footage (though not a lot that you can't get elsewhere), but for me the relentless mythologising, by the various (largely un-named and uncredited) interviewees, and by Joe himself gets a bit wearying. The Clash made some tremendous music, but Joe himself, while his constant seeking after some kind of truth and justice is laudable, wasn't the clearest or most consistent of political thinkers and shouldn't be celebrated as such. I also lost patience with the Julian Temple style; the free-association of loosely-related images with the Strummer story quickly came to seem less playfully amusing ... Read More:

If you love trivia and are a regular participant at the local pub quiz then this game is for you. Works really well on a dvd player and you pass the remote around after each round so up to 4 teams can play at once.
Its well put together, has loads of interesting clips and pictures, and i can see us playing this a few times when the family are home at christmas. Recommended!

No Direction home is a documentary over 2 discs charting the rise of Bob Dylan and his affect on music and the world.
Disc 1 is somewhat harder to watch, spending a lot of time talking to other musicians about the music scene in general, lots of live footage of other bands and not enough Dylan. While it is interesting it's more a history of folk music than a Dylan documentary.
Disc 2 follows on but features Dylan far more closely. The documentary includes a vast amount of archive footage that is fascinating to watch. Everything builds until Dylan eventually introduces electric performances to his sets and his fans cry out against him.
I have watched these discs and have a much greater appreciation for Dylan as a songwriter and performer.

"THIS DVD WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE."
I have been following Soulwax since 2002. As a musician myself, listening to Soulwax grow from a rock band to a electronic rock band has been an amazing journey. From start to finish, "Part of the weekend never dies" is definitely some of the best video editing I have ever seen in my entire life. Saam Farahmand is no joke and will blow your mind away by how he captured Soulwax. I purchased this dvd the day it came out on Amazon UK on September 8th, 2008. I would catch myself watching the live portion of the DVD every morning before i went to work. "Its a motivational movie for an musician who strives to be different!"
I showed it to a buddy of mine... worst mistake of my life. Now all of my friends are always asking ... Read More:
