The best TV show ever, from season's 1 to 5. This TV show looks at many aspects of life and seems to get better the more you watch it. An essential buy for any fan.

Having been unimpressed with first series of The Wire, I only started watching this, the second series, due to the endless critical praise that I kept seeing every time I picked up a newspaper. And I'm glad I did. The second series of The Wire is a huge improvement on the first. The story is deliberately slow to get into its stride but nevertheless is compelling from the opening credits to the final fade. This is a high quality Police drama which shows the good and the bad in everyone; the criminals, the stevedores and the Police all have very human qualities, both strengths and weaknesses, and the divide between crime and order is a realistically hazy one. A highly realistic drama showing the pitfalls of Police investigative techniques, the hard ... Read More:

Take a close look at the cover of the season three dvd and you will notice something: Avon and Stringer, together in the same car, but looking in different directions. That tells you all you need to know about these two 'brothers' in season three of The Wire. Whilst Stringer is greasing palms to make the most of the properties they control Avon is glad to be back in the game, keeping control of the corners, and regaining his place on the street. Season three brings us back to the problem of drugs in Baltimore and one man's plan to combat the problem. Major Colvin jokes at one stage that to meet the crime reduction targets he has been set he is going to legalise drugs. But his throwaway comment isn't too far from the truth. By creating zones where a blind ... Read More:

What an awesome series; exciting and truly addictive. For those who criticise its historical accuracy, it is a FICTIONAL story, and a rather good one at that! Those who care about history will already know the truths, those that don't, does it really matter??
I loved it. My only criticism is that it ended where it did. Looking forward to series 2!!

This is the Coen Brothers back to their best, after a mis-step with Intolerable Cruelty and, frankly, an awful remake of The Ladykillers.
The pacing, script, acting, direction are all first class.
Many people seem to have awarded this just 1 star. That is a disgrace.
If you liked Three Burials, Michael Clatyon and In The Vally of Elah, this will be your type of film.
If not, watch The Jeremy Kyle Show in your underwear and have a pot-noodle.

I do not get why so many people consider this to be 'best Disney movie ever.' For me, it was never one of my favourites. It's not really bad, but I do not consider it to be that good either, especially when compared to Walt's earlier efforts such as Snow White. To be honest, I feel that some of Disney's so-called 'dark age' efforts such as The Rescuers are better than this.
The animation is alright-ish. The backgrounds are beautiful but seem rather scratchy and flat. There are a few zany sequences, but not really enough to keep me entertained. There is hardly any plot, and most of it doesn't even stay true to the book. It's a shame, because there were some wonderful characters that had real potential. The character development was the only real strong point here, unless ... Read More:

From the point of view of an adult this film has lots of flaws - perhaps too long and the humour wasn't so great and the love story a bit unconvincing. But for children it is something of a wonder with tremendous special effects, battleaxe witches, sword fights, chases on horseback,a pirate ship that flies through the air, palaces and cities built on towering mountain peaks ( much of the scenery is scottish), and mystery and mayhem all over the place.
The last twenty minutes or so is great whatever your age:one of the best fight sequences I've ever seen on film.

Well, season four has completely blown me away. Building on the achievements of the previous three seasons it adds a new dimension which you might say was previously lacking: genuine emotional involvement. As I've said before the writing and the detail contained within it had made us interested in the characters and to care about them too. But by focusing on the education system, and a group of eighth graders in particular, it forces us to really worry about a group of children growing up in a city which has already shown that for some people the only opportunities available are different ways to ruin your life.
A hotly contested mayoral election is the main event in Baltimore.Tommy Carcetti may be the wrong colour to be mayor but by speaking to the right people and genuinely trying to engage with ... Read More:
