I am going to order this as soon as its released. I have seen the theatre performance and been to the cinema twice. I dragged my partner along (not willingly) even he had to admit it was great. The scenery the fun and the music, make you forget everything for a couple of hours. I loved it even the bad singing is forgiven.

As a big fan of the TV series,I really looked forward to seeing this movie.
However, while some people who usually don't like the series loved the movie,I find I was the other way around...I loved the series but thought the movie was just 'okay'.
Some things that the characters did, didn't really seem to be in their nature and sometimes it felt as if the writers were trying too hard to be both fashionable and funny(and I found the whole resorting to toilet humour thing in Charlotte's case just a bit cheap and try hard).
On a more positive note...It was,at the end of the day, a good, fun, uplifting movie with plenty of beautiful dresses and fabulous outfits.
Although I do think some of the characters didn't ... Read More:

I've read a lot of reviews about how The Wire is difficult viewing. Is it? It's certainly viewing that demands your concentration. You can't turn it on while you're doing something else because you have to watch what's happening, but I think if you've seen Homicide: Life on the Street you will have an idea of the politics and philosophy behind the show.
And well you might, because the show's creator David Simon wrote the novel that Homicide is based on, as well as a few episodes of the show, and the Wire is based in Baltimore, albeit focussing more on drugs than on homicides.
The characters are real. They have failings and strengths, they're good at some things but not at others, they can be irrational and emotional. This means ... Read More:

Docked one star for the misleading titling; this is only the first half of the final season. After the mixed Season 3, Season 4 returns back to form, with the addition of the extended version of Razor. If Season 3 has put you off, then this will restore your faith in the series.

I watched the ITV production and loved this Kooky tale combining the "Life on Mars" format with to the "Pride and Prejudice" story, I loved the idea and have watched my Sky Plus copies over and over again.
But, I've just bought the DVD and found that a crucial scene is missing. In the 2nd episode, the part where Amanda Price sings "Down Town" in the drawing room at Netherfield Park and where it first shows Mr Darcy's attraction to Amanda, has been totally cut out. The DVD edition shows Amanda, Mr Darcy, Mr Bingley and Caroline Bingley sitting around the table having dinner and Caroline Bingley challenging Amanda to entertain them, and then cutting straight to the them applauding Amanda, but not actually showing what she has just done. I was incredibly disappointed ... Read More:

I pre-ordered the 2 disc special edition from Amazon and as promised it was delievered slap bang on my doorstep on its official release date. Well done Amazon. Anyhow saw the film at the pics, fantastic. Decided to buy this edition and boy what a waste of money. Stick to the normal edition. I thought there would be loads of interviews with the cast but there was just one with SJP and the writer Michael King. A look at the wardrobe dept. and a commentary on deleted scenes. Nothing too much to interest you there. If you are a big fan though you would probably invest in this edition but otherwise save your cash, buy the 1 disc DVD and purchase the soundtrack of the album (which is awesome) with the money you have saved.

The first three seasons of Lost seemed to have marked themselves as a kind of thematic trilogy. The worry presenting viewers and the writers now is how will this show live on for another three years after so much grandstanding storytelling of seasons past? Here in Season Four that fear is quelled to some extent where past, present and now future collide.
Admittedly, the fourth year begins rather disappointingly with a teaser opening that has neither the adrenaline fuelled charge of Season 1's Pilot, nor the dumbfounding revelation of the season 2 hatch opening, nor the slam-bang, jaw dropping Others-intro on display at the start of season 3. Instead "The Beginning and The End" throws us into the future by starting on a cliché and out-of-place car chase that perplexes the mind ... Read More:

I had never seen the original Battlestar Galactica and watched this mini series because it was cheap and I saw it had reasonable reviews. BSG is now my favorite TV show. The characters are complex and believable, the story is dark yet superbly told and the show combines stellar acting with some fantastic action sequences. As a whole the series manages to be compelling in many ways. The music and CGI are top notch and the wonderful cast add depth to every issue that gets raised and many are. This is no black and white story as it hinted at in the mini series and it is astounding how deep it all gets while never losing sight of the struggles of the amazingly well defined and diverse characters.
The mini series itself was the first thing I have ever watched that brought me to tears ... Read More:

Having been unimpressed with first series of The Wire, I only started watching this, the second series, due to the endless critical praise that I kept seeing every time I picked up a newspaper. And I'm glad I did. The second series of The Wire is a huge improvement on the first. The story is deliberately slow to get into its stride but nevertheless is compelling from the opening credits to the final fade. This is a high quality Police drama which shows the good and the bad in everyone; the criminals, the stevedores and the Police all have very human qualities, both strengths and weaknesses, and the divide between crime and order is a realistically hazy one. A highly realistic drama showing the pitfalls of Police investigative techniques, the hard graft that is Police work and the real difficulties ... Read More:
