I remember watching this as a kid and recently saw parts of it again on the History channel and have found it incredibly moving - just the theme music with a series of shocking pictures culminating in the gaunt face of a young girl at the end, is truly chilling. The series examines every aspect and angle of the war in great detail. It does not shy away from some shocking footage and yet never feels like it is revelling in it. It is a serious historical work and yet it never drags. Watching it again I was struck by how many of those interviewed are long dead now, and how lucky I have been to never experience anything like the suffering they endured, and how future generations should never forget the price of their freedom.

I cannot recomend this film enough! It's funny, its romanitc and an all round great film. The sound track has something that makes you want to play it all over again. Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet all gave brilliant performances, Cameron's however, lacked the certain pizaz that she ususally has. But over all, one cracking Christmas film!

This DVD was worth the purchase for the Learn the Alphabet extra feature alone. This held the attention of my 3 year old and has the added bonus of being interactive. Simple for kids to navigate using arrow and OK buttons on your remote control.

After seeing that this won an Emmy for best dramatic series, I decided to buy it. I hadn't seen it on TV, and watch most series on DVD. I got through 3 1/2 episodes, and, with nothing at all happening of any interest - aside from all the blatant attempts to constantly remind the viewer that it was 1960 - I gave up. I don't see the point; the characters are cardboard cutouts, the dialog is flat, the storyline, or what little there is, is uninteresting. Others like it, and it's beyond me why.

There are not enough words to express how much I truly adore this movie, it's legendary! I could watch this every day and still not get bored, I'm not even going to wait until I have kids to try and justify me buying it.

Although I am not the greatest Harry Potter fan in the world I have always enjoyed the film series and thankfully this film continues this trend. The Order of the Phoenix sees the dark lord Voldemort gathering his forces but with the Ministry of Magic refusing to acknowledge his return Harry and his friends must defy the Ministry in order to prepare for the coming war. Complicating matters is Ms Umbridge, the Ministry appointed Defence from the Dark Arts teacher, who is willing to do anything for the Ministry of Magic.
I haven't read any of the Potter books as yet and as such I cannot comment about how closely this film sticks to the book and I have heard mixed reports on the subject. Nevertheless I do feel that the film fits in very will with the style established by ... Read More:

This is feel-good viewing at its best - a charming, modern fairytale with Christina Ricci expertly leading a very strong cast as Penelope, the girl born with the face of a pig thanks to an age-old family curse. She is supported by a host of familiar faces, including Reese Witherspoon in a brief but memorable appearance as Penelope's new-found friend. James McAvoy plays Penelope's would-be suitor, and is perfectly cast as the loveable rogue.
With themes of rejection and self-acceptance at its core, the film has a really wide appeal. Far-fetched but relevant, it makes for a really fun, warm hour and half of viewing.

Lark Rise to Candleford is a trilogy of semi-autobiographical novels about the English countryside, written by Flora Thompson, and first published in that form in 1945. This is the 2008 ten-part BBC adaptation, starring Julia Sawalha, Olivia Hallinan, Brendan Coyle and Dawn French.
This is for me the perfect entertainment. Great filming, great language, style, elegance, human relationships, a world changing, extremes in poverty and richness. A world long gone is brought back. This is no trashy entertainment playing to a dump audience. This is just first class.
The cast is just wonderful, all of them, but I have to admit that Julia Sawalha as Dorcas Lane is just fantastic. I am impressed by her as I am impressed by the whole adaption. Most impressive is the setting ... Read More:
