I was so excited when the film came to DVD, having not had a chance to see it at the cinema. I pre-ordered it, sent the hubby out, put the baby to bed, and settled back to enjoy. But what a disappointment! Why aren't my favourite girls happy? Samantha miserable in LA, Miranda back to her cynical and stroppy worst, Carrie a materialistic drama queen, and Charlotte - did she even have a storyline? Even her pregnancy announcement was muted, after so long trying. It's like the writer couldn't think what to do with her character, as she was the only happy one, and the only memorable moment for her was pooing her pants! OK, this is a fine, brave movie, and I am all for a bit of thought and effort going into a blockbuster, but all the eulogising over Ledgers performance is not only over the top, but does the film a great disservice. Is Nolan's vision what Bob Kane envisaged when he created Batman, not anywhere close. Is it a good screen representation of where the character has been going since Miller re-vamped him for the grunge-geek generation? Yes.
Ledger plays the Joker essentialy the way Brad Dourif has been playing crazy people for nearly 30 years. The mannerisms, the voice, its all there, and is a competent impersonation of an underated and little known actor. People go on about the 'terrifying intensity' of it all, but lets have a sense of perspective ... Read More:

I bought Aladdin being a big fan of the Disney films and I was very pleased with the movie itself; Robin Williams is hilarious as the Genie, the story is good if not a bit too eccentric, the songs are wonderful and picture and sound quality are perfect.

However calling the DVD a 'Musical Masterpiece' edition is a bit of a marketing con. The only features are a pamphlet like booklet with song lyrics and then there's an option to put the film on with song subtitles appearing.

I did buy the DVD just for the film so I really didn't mind the lack of decent extras too much, it's a good price for a very good movie but if you're an extras fan it may be worth trying to find the DVD that was released in 2004.

after the tension created in series 1 and 2, i was hoping a return to the prison escape format would keep it going but this is a step too far. some of the acting by the newer characters is sub-schoolplay level, and has made me seriously consider whether to bother with series 4

I got this film for christmas last year and, as a result i was pleasantly surprised at how different it was to all the other musicals. I first watched it as soon as i got it (for an hour); as it went on i thought how bored i was, i think this was because the story seemed to go on and on etc. I wasn't understanding at all what was happening; i realise that i am younger than most people that watch it ,but all my friends seemed to watch it and agree with my opinion of it. I am a big fan of musicals, however i am not a big fan of this one!

I completely diasagree with the first two reviewers as well. I went to see this when it was out in the cinema (small local cinema - who only intended to show it for one night) - the place was sold out and they ended up putting it on for weeks instead.

I thought this movie was very cleverly done, Will Smith portrayed the character very well, and the tongue in cheek approach used here worked very well. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and was frequently laughing out loud.

I didn't know what to expect going to see this but I'm glad I did and think most people will find it very enjoyable.

Enjoyable, mindless, and very funny. Downey Jr. was surprisingly brilliant. Little plot or real substance but who cares, just fun hokum and the best film I've seen for a while. Recommended.
