Sense and Sensibility, directed by Ang Lee with a screenplay written by Emma Thompson, made up one part of the holy trinity of Austen productions which aired in 1995. That crowning year for Austenmania began with the BBC production of Persuasion in April 1995 (starring Amanda Root and Ciáran Hinds), followed by the impeccable BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle) in September and October, and was capped off in mid-December by this film version of Sense and Sensibility. Emma Thompson's much-praised screenplay (for which she won an Oscar and a Golden Globe) straddles the difficult divide between pleasing the community of Jane Austen purists and making the 1811 novel appealing to a wider audience of cinema ... Having read the reviews for Kipper I bought this DVD for my 18 month old. He loves it so much it prompted me to add my own review. He is captivated by Kipper, the simple and entertaining stories and the characters. He asks for Kipper by name now and even does a dance to the opening music! He giggles out loud at the hamster in Pigs Present. Its lovely to have a DVD that I can put on for 10 minutes and know that Aaron will enjoy every minute. I would recommend this to everyone.

Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film.
This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script.
Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's. ... Read More:

When Englishmen come to her land in search of gold, Pocahontas finds love in the arms of John Smith.
This Oscar winning romantic drama from Walt Disney is one of the warmest and adult themed animations in the genre, and has a heart warming story and some beautifully crafted songs.
The narrative centres around the beautiful independent Pocahontas, who we first see diving off a hill into a gorgeous river, and viewers are instantly thrust into her life as we see what's on her mind. Pocahontas is a great central character to have, as she embodies a very strong woman with her own mind. Her thoughts and feelings are well executed and are inspirational to women of all ages and is one of the strongest Disney characters ever created, right ... Read More:

This has to be one of my favourite films ever. Its such a lovely story and Jamie Bell is amazing as Billy Elliot. Its a must watch!
Release Date March 31, 2008
There are several adjectives that describe this film, and ponderous is the first that came to my mind after watching it. The second was pretentious. Whilst Brad Pitt gives a creditable performance other actors are wooden and wholly unconvincing. The film could quite easily have been edited down from two and a half gruelling hours to a more tolerable 90 minutes without losing a word of dialogue or even any of the "moody" shots that supposedly lend it its contrived atmosphere. Other relevant adjectives: boring, disconnected, and of course predictable, since we already know the ending before it begins. In short, eminently forgettable.
