Detached, hypnotic, and retro (much like Pink Floyd's song "Breathe" from the Dark Side Of The Moon--and yet not Pink Floyd) is how I would describe the sound of this debut CD. Released in 1988, Moon Safari is the first release from the Surrender Monkeys-French electronica duo Air, consisting of Nicolas Godingodiva and Jean-Benoît Dunckelly. (The name "Air" is an acronym for Amour, Imagination, Rêve -- How life changing is that !)
Not only is Air's music a chillout blend of Love, Imagination, and Dreams, but it is a light blend of psychedelic musical influences (including Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, and Jean Michel Jarre and other obscure retro stuff). Standout Moon Safari tracks include "Sexy Boy," "Kelly Watch the Stars," ... Read More:

A few years ago Air did a song called "Don't Be Light". It wasn't very Air-esque but it hit the spot. Listening to Air in 2007 I just wish they'd follow their own advice. There are 2 or 3 good songs on this album (e.g. Left Bank, Mer du Japon) but there are a lot of very light tracks which I would actually hesitate to call "songs", because they're little more than programmed beats and keyboard sounds (i.e. they forgot to add a melody). It sounds to me as if the band were well and truly on auto-pilot whilst doing some of this album. And the less said about the Jarvis Cocker song the better (simply awful!).

All of them (other reviewers) have forgotten one beautiful song.
It is called 'COME ON' and it is the opening track from the album
"Fractured Life" (IMPORT).
I especially bought this import edition because of this beautiful
song which you cannot find on the regular full CD release or on
the different singles.
This is already a very good band. This can only be getting better
and better.
Good luck guys !!!

firstly i should probably say what kinda music i like: most things!
and this is one of those rare albums which is amazing - every track is wonderful. this album, like moon safari, does not disappoint....and i dont really see a massive change in styles - its different to moon safari but its not so different that you would only like moon safari OR talkie walkie.
i only got it this morning and ive now listened to it through 2 times and it is amazing. it has the beauty of cinematic orchestra but with air's unique electronica feel - a calm and masterful piece of work.

I've only just got round to buying 10'000HZ Legend, but I'm so glad I did.
This album is a slight departure from Moon Safari. This is more experimental, darker, and somewhat inconsistent in places. Therefore; in my opinion; not every track works. However, the ones that do - work extremely well and there are some great moments here.
"Electronic Performers" opens the album well, it's a Kraftwerk-esque electronic bleeps and beats with electronically processed vocals. But for me; by far the best track on the album; is "How does it make you feel?". This "pink floyd-ish" track drifts in beautifully, with wonderful lyrics giving a sense of bleak loneliness.
As I said before, there are some awesome moments here, but there are ... Read More:

Since "Premiers Symptomes" means "first symptoms," it's appropriate that it's the name of Air's collection of early singles. This French duo created a warm sweep of electronica that sounded like a complete , which is only marred by two funky, rather awkward songs pasted on to the end.
"Modular Mix" kicks it off -- a dreamy song that sounds like the soundtrack for an underwater movie. "Casanova 70" and the languid "Les Professionals" add a lounge-y sound. And "J'Ai Dormi Sous L'Eau" and "Le Soleil Est Près de Moi" are sweet and slow , almost like a pair of trip-hop lullabies.
The rerelease of "Premiers Symptomes" was given a bonus -- two new tracks, "Californie" and "Brakes On." Well, they're a mixed blessing. They're actually ... Read More:

Air supply were much bigger in America, where they had a string of big hits, than in Britain, where they had just two hits - All out of love made number eleven and Even the nights are better was a minor hit. Both of those made the top five in America, as did Lost in love, Every woman in the world, The one that you love, Here I am, Sweet dreams and Making love out of nothing at all. They had other hits in America too, including Two less lonely people in the world, Young love (an original song, not a cover of the rock'n'roll classic) and Just as I am, all included here.
Their last American hit was Power of love, the song that was originally a massive hit in several European countries for Jennifer Rush (including number one in Britain where it charted at the ... Read More:
