best know as one half of simon and garfunkel..need i say more! his solo work has been very under-rated! i only knew "bright eyes" one of my all times favourite songs!
for a bargain price i bought the best of...and how it is worth its weight in gold!
the album opens with "bright eyes" a timeless classic...sounding as good as ever!
through the album you have timeless cassic tracks like "what a wonderful world" and "when a man loves a woman" which art reworks to his favour..the stunning cover of "miss you nights" original recorded by cliff richard but this version is stunning!
you have the single releases "breakaway" and "scissors cut" which is my personal favourite on the album and maybe one ... Read More:

An early solo offering from the above and the result is very pleasing. If you can live with out 'bright eyes', his best half dozen or so, other tracks, are all right here. The last four tracks have a mega chill out quality about them. Nearly only got 'fours stars' because of a coulple of ordinary tracks, but the rest of the album carries these quite nicely.

Classic yet under-rated collection of traditional folk and modern romantic ballads by the voice of Simon & Garfunkel. An excellent album to help translate self-pity into philosophical reflection.
Outstanding songs include the traditional folk weepie "Barbara Allen", the penetratingly thoughtful "Mary Was an Only Child", the infectiously joyous "I Shall Sing" and the killer romantic plea "All I Know" (if only all men knew that one!).
A proper album of songs collected together with care to form a cohesive piece and an essential part of the reflective corner of any CD collection.

All my Loves' Laughter... enough said - apart from Wonderful World which is oddly placed amongst the Jim Webb classics, being produced by Phil Ramone, though it does oddly build up the rest of the songs. Crying In My Sleep is heartbreaking & Wooden Planes is simply stunning, in it's own unique bleakness. Andrew Gold is amongst the musicians playing here, I recommend this release entirely & cannot believe no-one has reviewed this already. 10/10 - Mark Daynes

Just when Art needed an album of 'adult pop'to boost his solo career, he opted for a passionless collection of standards. Bad move. Something along the lines of 'Scissors Cut' or 'Lefty' would have been far more credible. This just leaves me cold, I'm afraid, and I'm a diehard fan.

Although it is difficult to obtain outside Europe, "The Art Garfunkel Album" provides the best available overview of Mr. Garfunkel's much undervalued solo career. All of the most popular tracks from his first eleven solo outings are included, from his soaring 1973 hit single "All I Know", through lesser-known--but still exquisite--selections such as "Breakaway", "A Heart In New York", and "Bright Eyes" (from the animated film WATERSHIP DOWN.) For Simon & Garfunkel fans unfamiliar with Mr. Garfunkel's later work, this is the perfect introduction; additionally, long-time fans will be delighted by the inclusion of "Sometimes When I'm Dreaming", a beautiful--but fairly obscure--track not readily available elsewhere.

Having bought most of Art Garfunkel's solo albums I think he has hit the mark beautifully by teaming with Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock, producing a sound which is very like the old "Simon and Garfunkel" tracks such as Scarborough Fair or Sound of Silence. Buddy's guitar playing is so S&G it really could be them. Maia's clarinet playing is gorgeous, and the singing harmonies are melodic and hit the spot.
On the other hand, a whole album of such beautiful music seems a bit repetitive and the lyrics, based on Art's poetry, are a bit strained in places. But I listened to "Thread" over and over again and will undoubtedly drive the household mad as I switch favourite tracks over the days to come.
I shall be giving the album as gifts to ... Read More:
