This album is a must for any listener who appreciates acoustic music and thought provoking lyrics. Every song is excellent and the delivery of 'Ants Marching' is simply astounding. Very recommended and I feel sorry for anyone who misses out on this performance. It quickly became one of my favourite albums and is right up there with Neil Young Unplugged!

I already have the 3 albums featured on here on both CD and Vinyl but just had to have them all again on this one collection.
High Lonesome was, before this release very difficult and expensive to pick up so if you have either Fire On The Mountain and/or Nightrider and were thinking, is it worth the money for just the one you haven't got, take it from me, stop thinking and buy it now. Not a duff track on all 3 albums here, (spread over 2 discs) you'd think this was a greastest hits, it's that good. Charlie and the boys tear through classic after classic. Top musicianship, top songs, I really can't recomend this more highly.

Hymns

Just a note to say I got the CD this morning.
WOW- It was well worth the wait.
What can you say about the band playing on the CD other than this was brass playing of the very highest quality - thank you wonderful Grimethorpe.
I was particularly emotionally, charged when Gresford was played. This was super playing. I have played this hymn many times and I always feel huge emotion when this hymn starts.
Thank you Julian for your disk notes which were very interesting reading. I never knew that Gresford came about due to the mining disaster.

Finally and most importantly - a very big thank you to SP & S for producing such a shining beacon of light and hopefulness when all around us is bathed in semi darkness.

I originally had this album on LP in the early 80's, a real gem from the past. Having unrwapped this little package of delight I was pleaseantly surprised to see the wonderful way it has been lovingly restored and presented in digi form. True to its original release all of the old artwork has been restored plus new bits added. As for the music itself at the time it was stunning and remains so to this day. The highlights have to be The Girl I Left Behind Me, Speed The Plough and Abroad for Pleasure.

All in all it shows Ashley Hutchings and the rest of the Albion Band at their most creative with a real who's who of people from the folk world. This is a must have for all lovers of modern folk.

Speaking as someone that has suffered with bouts of depression for long periods in my life, I have to say that I wish I'd discovered the 'Bonzo's' sooner! This excellent value 2 album set, is a right hoot from start to finish and includes such an eclectic mix of musical ideas and comedy sketches that it never gets boring, even when it gets boring! HA HA HA There's a lot of fun and laughter to be had here and tracks like 'Shirt', 'Ali Baba's Camel', 'Mr Slater's Parrot' and 'Busted' are just the perfect tonic if you are feeling down. Behind the humour however, tracks like 'I Want To Be With You', demonstrate that there was a pretty nifty 'pop band'trying to get out and, on another album, the song could easily pass for a 'summer of love' classic. I am not someone who can listen to CD's over and over again, but Live at Red Rocks has broken that trend. This is the most stunning album I own/have heard containing the best songs by DMB, the best versions of those best songs (Two-step, Proudest Monkey, and Seek up are incredible), and its live which adds deserved atmosphere and acclaim! I love DMB - their songs ooze with effortless creativity, cultural diversity, and are deeply rich in quality to the extent that I often find songs within songs. When considered that this is fitted around meaningful lyrics you have the most powerful musical concoation known to man!
