Greatest: Special Edition

I've seen reviews on other websites that completely miss the point - they'll say "Where is 'You Win Again', 'Alone', 'Secret Love' etc". The answer is that none of them existed in 1979 when this album was released.

At the time of the original release, the Bee Gees were with the RSO label, and it is this period (1975-1979) that is covered by "Greatest". My personal favourite Bee Gees single "Spirits (Having Flown)", a UK No. 16 hit in January 1980, is included and that fact alone makes this album worthwhile. I'm fairly certain this is the only Bee Gees compilation ever to have included this track, and the only re-mastered version of it anywhere. The Very Best of the Bee Gees

This CD was released approximately the same time as the four disc box set, but only in Europe. It covers the years of 1967 to 1979 with only the major hits. It's a nice greatest hits CD if you don't want to be bothered with the extraneous minor hits and album cuts of the Box Set. Nicely remixed as well. If you check out the USA Amazon.com, you will find the newly remastered version which is simply unbelievable!

The Record: Their Greatest Hits

I have to admit that I bought this collection for the disco-era tracks the boys are best-known for! However, I was surprised to find that I enjoyed the entire collection enormously! It spans almost 40 years and embraces many genres of music, all of which reside together very well! The boys may never have been great vocalists (or poster boys for that matter) but their songwriting and musical arrangements are sheer genius and are superb throughout! There is something for everyone here, but my personal highlight is "Emotion" which was a huge hit for Samantha Sang in 1978! Do yourself a favour and buy this album! You won't be disappointed!

One Night Only

One of the last Cd's where Maurice performes live. All of BeeGees favorites with a few surprises. There is a tribute to their younger brother Andy and a few songs that were never performed live. Great if you have been a BeeGees fan or great first purchase.

Octopus

Trying too hard to cover as many styles as possible without injecting any personality or anything that sets them apart from the sort of pap you hear at a beer festival. They get a star as they made me tap my foot when i wasn't concentrating.... i'm off now with my bontempi keyboard to form a band and send my own rubbish efforts to their record company to recoup some of the costs.

The Bird and the Bee

Marvellous, sweet tunes with great beats, good atmospheres on the slower paced ones, Inara George has the sweetest voice! Some of these tunes sound right off Dubstar's debut, Disgraceful; brilliant stuff. George's vocal harmonisation mixin' on I Hate Camera with a 60s harpsichord backing is absolutely charming. F*cking Boyfriend is great tune, possibly the best on the album, the profanity doesn't bother me in the slightest - it is real, man. Check their EP also.

Sunshine Hit Me

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this album is in words, but i'll try my best :)

The emotion and dedication put into this record is what makes it so great, the music sounds real, honest. The songwriting is top quality too, can never predict where the songs heading. Another thing I like about this album is how varied the instrumentation is; on practically every song there is organs and keys galore, filling up the sound, lovely use of percussion (cowbells, shakers, even pots and pans make an appearance). Considering this is two blokes in a shed, its an outstanding achievement.

The album contains fantastic melodies that follow you around for days and features interesting jazzy harmonies and varied rhythms. The actual music is quite complex for something that ... Read More:
