Blake's eponymous first album garnered praise from all quarters so the fact that 'still life' recieved no coverage at all on it's release makes no sense to me. Could sales have really been so poor that polydor ditched the artist after only one album despite the critical acclaim it recieved? Blake has released several albums since 'still life', including a very haunting live album, but this for me remains his best. The album is really gorgeous and a lot more accessible than his first largely through his choice of eclectic musicians.
