This CD has a conservative song selection and a conservative style, which some people may not like. However, the across the board musicianship of this group is superb!! The pitch and harmonies are vastly superior to Il Divo for example, but you have to be able to 'hear' perfect pitch and harmonies and really care about quality, to know the difference.--:)---We don't have classically trained musicians like this in the USA, putting out albums like this anymore, so you don't know how spoiled you are!!-----Blake takes its time in developing its songs and harmonies, and does not AT ALL cater to what will sell!!---They are musicians first and foremost, and if you cannot handle a group's conservative choice to be fantastic singers FIRST ... For months I had been waiting for some new kind of music to place on my ipod and I became bored of most mainstream chart music.

Blake is a breath of fresh air. Okay, so it is a bit operatic, but they are far better than Il Divo. My own personal favourites is their version of "Take My Breath Away", "Gladiator" and "Vide Cor Meum" (which is from the movie Hannibal). The songs that are sung in Italian are a treat, especially if you like to romance things up with your missus... I would say this is a great CD for Christmas as well.

White Christmas

Nothing quite puts you in the festive mood like an old classic from Irving Berlin and with Blake's two versions of the song, it's double the fun. The first version is more classically inspired and in keeping with the original that we all know and love. The second version (festive mix) is much more up tempo but still has a wonderful sound, thanks to the unique harmonies and arrangements provided by Blake.The third song on the CD, In The Bleak Midwinter, is another Christmas favourite and really hi-lights the wonderful voices of the group members, not just as an ensemble but also as individuals.

Mediaeval Baebes - Undrentide

I had heard of the Babes some time ago. But had not had the opportunity to listen to their music. To be honest, i thought the music would be some sort of New Age rock. And it was not until actually seeing them at a festival and thus hearing their music, that i realised how DIFFERENT and true to their name that they actually were. I immediately started looking for an albulm, and was drawn to Undrentide. And was quite happy that i had made this choice. As the whole albulm is hauntingly melodic, beautifully sung and full of medieval magic. And just pure in content. The Essential Emma Johnson

This CD is wonderful and has been exceptionally usefull for my A2 performance investigation; she plays so differently from many clarinettists and so gives me plenty to talk about. Hearing the 5 Bagatelles has been really good for my own performances too; I've learnt a lot by hearing another play the pieces.

This is not just another reissue of old 78's .... this is a collection of rarities put together by a man who lives and breathes shellac. The discs on this CD are all prime copies, no elecktrickery; track 21 (Original Stack O'Lee Blues) is the only copy of this disc known to exist, one disc from a label that issued only 55 records....bought in a lot for ten dollars, that someone has since offered thirty thousand dollars for....but collectors never sell, they buy discs to listen to, not trade.

And Joe Bussard is the king of collectors, been at it since his teens, knows his stuff and loves his music...proper music that is. We are lucky that he chooses to share his collection with us and others who've heard his broadcasts....

I was prepared for the worst but actually it is quite good - a jazzy interpretation of the Dark Side.

Well recorded (Chesky!) and finely executed it is an easy-listening curiousity.
Surprisingly (for a tribute album) it stands well to repeated listenings, a good piece of work in it's own right.

A keeper.
