Like the last reviewer, and many, many others, The Blues Brothers was a film I first watched when I was about 10 and it introduced me to a whole new world of music.
This soundtrack was the first record I ever owned and it is where I first heard a lot of artists that I may otherwise never of heard of, since I had only really listened to pop and ska before.
This is a great collection and younger people especially will find it it very educational. If you enjoy the soundtrack it would also be a good idea to look up some of the other artists featured in the film but not on the soundtrack, like Sam and Dave and John Lee Hooker.
A fun film and a fun soundtrack, try the other Blues Brothers recordings too, you ... Read More:

What an album this is. I would say it's a must for anyone who likes music and is an absolute, definite, no-brainer must-have for anyone dissatisfied with the world today.
As another poster said, the King Blues combine a number of musical styles - I'd describe them as ska, reggae and punk with a bit of hip-hop and folk thrown in. The result is songs which instantly grab you musically and ram anthems into your head which don't escape for days.
And then there are the lyrics. So passionately political, anti-war and anti-capitalist they are hard to beat and phenomenally uplifting for anyone who shares those views, such as myself. "Going to war to prevent war is the most stupid thing I've ever heard". That line should serve ... Read More:

What makes this compilation great, is that the songs have strong feelings behind them and this is conveyed superbly by the vocalists. This isn't an entirely up-beat album as a previous review states but certainly pleasure can be derived from listening to them. If you like genuine sentiment in your songs then buy it.

[One CD, with a running time of 78:22] This collection of Moody Blues hits would better be called, "The Moody Blues Through The Years." The songs run from their early Go Now (1964), through I Know You're Out There Somewhere (1988). Along the way, we get the touching Isn't Life Strange, the haunting Forever Autumn, the radiant The Voice, and many other great songs.
My one and only complaint is that Nights In White Satin is included without Graeme Edge's spellbinding poem Late Lament. I have always found that poem to be a fantastic epilogue to the song. But that's such a minor complaint. This is a great CD, and well worth the money.
By the way, the sleeve includes a one or two-sentence story of each song, and a conversation between John ... Read More:

A surprise release from Peter Gabriel, and an unexpected pleasure. Some of Gabriel's output over recent years has been patchy at best (like Ovo and the Rabbit Proof Fence soundtrack) and it seemed too much to hope that this collective effort could be as good as his most recent studio album Up. Ok, it's not as good as Up, and it's not a Gabriel solo effort, featuring a great many musicians and composers, but this compares very well with the music on Gabriel's Passion and Us.
It opens with Gabriel's Whole Thing, which begins relatively modestly and gently builds to a crescendo of layered vocals and percussion - worthy of inclusion on a PG solo album and in my opinion at least, better than anything on Us. The album abruptly changes tone with ... Read More:

I am an avid Moody Blues fan and bought this album last Christmas. I have since bought another copy for my wife. Like many other fans, I wasn't sure just how they would handle Christmas songs but I needn't have worried. They give every song their own unique, professional treatment and have such restful voices. I love this album and particularly December Snow, which I would rate as good as any track they have ever done (yes, as good as that!) If you like the Mooody Blues, or even if you are just looking for a good Christmas album, buy this! I couldn't believe how cheaply it was purchased from Amazon and I rarely stop playing it during the season.
