looking for an overview of Buddy Holly's work? They don't come much better than this. We can all wish this one was in there or that, but someone somewhere had to make a decision on what went in and what didn't. The result is a good all round representation of the skill, the talent, the sheer joy that was Buddy Holly's music. It is hard to believe all this happened in just 18 months. If anyone ever left a legacy, he did.

Fantastic guitar work from buddy and nice to here derek and eric playing to They also played together on the Crossroads DVD.
Like a lot of people, I first saw Buddy on John Mayall's 70th birthday bash
and was impressed by his technique and passion. I've been playing this CD for weeks now and would recommend it highly. There's a lot of great guitar playing, very much in the Stevie Ray vein and a set of catchy songs with one instrumental Greenwood which is well-constructed and beautifully played.
The guy is just the best around in the rock/blues genre.

Buddy Guy celebrates his new recording contract with Silvertone by setting out his stall from the very first track - the title which features some exceptionally fiery guitar playing and there's some lovely fluid guitar playing all over this album. As well as this facet Buddy Guy shows his softer - more "bluesier" side on "Five Long Years" and "Black Night" - the two longest tracks on the album. The album features a stellar cast of guitar greats - Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Mark Knopfler but Buddy Guy's guitar burns the brightest of them all. There's an odd cover here of "Mustang Sally" which is taken a tad slower than normal but works well. The last track - "Remembering Stevie" is in homage to the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan and is a beautiful ... Read More:

This is a great CD, I LOVE it. It has all the fab Holly songs on it with the exception of a particular favourite of mine - 'Cut across Shorty' a B side, i know, but should have been 'A' in my opinion. Oh well, you can't have everything I suppose. Anyway, I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys great music.I know I do and this is my idea of perfection.

This was the collection of Buddy songs that went round my old school in the seventies! Back then I didn't know who Buddy holly was, it sort of fitted in with the Diana Ross and the Supremes LP. The Beach Boys twenty golden Greats LP and Simon and Garfunkles Greatest hits LP I memories of nicking them fron Woolworths come flooding back!
This is a great record!! Think it Over is especially fine!!

I first heard Buddy Holly when I was a schoolboy in the late '50s. It may be difficult for today's teenagers to understand his impact, but Buddy changed our lives forever. He looked geeky but was great. He gave us hope and made us dream on. He wrote about our lives in his songs. Some of us got hold of cheap guitars and learned a few chords to play Oh Boy!, Peggy Sue, Not Fade Away and That'll Be The Day mainly trying to impress the girls. OK, well maybe we didn't win 'em over quite so easily, but Buddy provided the soundtrack to our lives for a while. Then unbelievably he was gone. I can remember sitting in the lockers with my pals, before school assembly, when someone came in with the news. We were stunned, devastated. But we had his records. Most of us ... Read More:

This is a great collection of Buddy Guy's Chicago recordings, & they really hit the spot. The guitar playing is wonderful, but not as wild as it should have been due to views of taste from the time!

"Big Swing Face" is one of Buddy's more popular albums, and I would certainly describe it as a classic. I first heard Buddy Rich when I was a kid when an older cousin of mine played me some of his LPs. Needless to say, I was mesmerised, and spent the next four decades of my life as a drummer.
This CD version also contains tracks that are not on the original LP release, which I still own. Even today, this recording remains one of my all-time favourite Rich albums. You can really feel the atmosphere of the gig, and the band just groove so well. His music crossed categories, and attracted a huge audience, and even if you're not into jazz, or drumming for that matter, you will love this album.
I was fortunate enough to see the Buddy ... Read More:
