The Very Best Of Dolly Parton

Has much has i Like Dolly Parton, I do wonder how many more times are her managers going to release her Greatest Hits & Best Of Albums.
I think she should come back and do something New!!

I brought Dolly Partons Greatest Hits back in 1999 The Album i have is a 2x Disc version With the same songs and same listings in the exact same track listing order has these 2 seperate Albums!! Why it has been Re-released has two seperate Volumes is beyond me, Especially when the version i have is still avalible to buy.

I have given this a 4 Star if it was a New greatest hits it would have got a 5 Star, However it isn't. And plus it's not Dolly's thought i blame the record company!!! :-)

Ultimate Dolly Parton

To anybody who already owns a compilation of Dolly's music for RCA, the track listing here has a familiar look to it with few exceptions. The exceptions are Please don't stop loving me, a sensational duet with Porter Wagoner not normally included on Dolly's solo compilations, To know him is to love him, from the first Trio album, and Why'd you come in here looking like that, from Dolly's period with Columbia. This UK edition includes a bonus track – a remix of Early morning breeze, a song that originally appeared on Dolly's Coat of many colors album (1971) and later on her Jolene album (1974).

I just felt that I had to write a review.

We went to see Dolly last night at the O2 arena and wow ... what a show.

Over 2hrs she played 6 of the tracks above as well as her classic's Islands in the Sream, Jolene, 9 to 5, Coat of many colurs, Why'd you come in here looking like that etc.

I've seen a few concerts in my 25 years but that by far was the best (I think that with no warm up act and the seats we had helped!!)

Buy the cd and then watch the 'Euro 08' tour DVD when its released.

Trio Vol.1

Great song choices here though perhaps only 'Telling Me Lies' sounds out of place. What really sells this album is the sheer joy you feel at the harmonies. I'm not a big fan of the singers so have no agenda here, but they sound fantastic together. Stand out tracks include 'I've Had Enough', 'Those Memories' and and the aching 'My Dear Companion'

The Tour Collection

The first thing to say about this collection is that although some of Dolly's hits are here, a lot of them are missing including Jolene, 9 to 5, Here you come again, Coat of many colors, Two doors down, Joshua, Bargain store, The seeker, Old flames and You're the only one (to name a few). This is not, and was never meant to be, a hits collection. Plenty of those are already available. I'm sure that a lot of fans would have been happy for this collection to completely avoid the obvious classics (I know that I would) but I guess that commercial reality necessitated the inclusion of some of them.

The majority of the 16 tracks featured on this CD were recorded in the years 1968-77, and 10 were written by Dolly herself, including “9 to 5” which dates from 1980.

Inevitably, many of the songs are available on other compilations. For instance, eight also appear on the excellent 3CD box set, “Legends” and the same number likewise do so on the very good 2CD album “The Essential Dolly Parton.”

However, the version of “Two Doors Down” on “Greatest Hits” is not the one featured on “Legends.” Moreover, the recording of “I Will Always Love You” on “Greatest Hits” differs from the one found on the other compilations just mentioned.

5 Original Album Classics

Compilations are for people who like to be told what to listen to. There are load of songs on these albums that are as good if not better than the things that make it onto the numerous compliations, especially the songs she wrote herslf. I think Dolly Parton is a better songwriter than Bob Dylan. Let's not even compare the voices. Can you imagine if you could't get hold of Blonde on Blonde? Sort it out RCA.
This is a well packaged 5 album release, no extras, but the music speaks for itself.
