This is a veritable compendium of real American music, made by people who love to play it. The late Mr Sahm is the star here, and no mistake, but here are songs with Bob Dylan, Flaco Jimenez, and Dr John making up the band. Every style you can imagine in the country-blues spectrum, unified by this unique singer and songwriter. They sure made a record in 1973. I've owned it four days, never wrote a review for Amazon before: don't waste a second.

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard and Clark

Originally released in 1969, this wonderful album sits nicely alongside Sweetheart of the Rodeo and The Gilded Palace of Sin as one of the most important early country-rock releases. Dillard and Clark's first country/bluegrass album contains some fine material. The brilliance of Doug Dillard's banjo-picking, along with heavy reliance on mandolins played by Don Beck and guest Chris Hillman, as well as electric harpsichord(!) by Andy Belling creates a unique sound to back up Gene Clark's lovely voice.
And here are some great Clark songs, some written in partnership with Dillard and Eagle-and Burrito-to be Bernie Leadon. The opener Out On The Side sets the tone for the rest of the album - moving, older but wiser songs of lost loves and world ... Read More:

Something to Take the Edge Off

Stanhope is very refreshing... I had no problems getting into the material even though it is in audio form and not dvd. In fact I have five of Stanhope's cd's. They are all excellent.
This cd is not for the weak. His material is crass, but then, if you've been paying attention, so is life!
Doug Stanhope is one of the only comedians today that can make me laugh out loud! This cd is gritty, edgy and not for the easily offended, but funnier than hell!
Plenty of comic's are filthy but Doug elevates his filth with genuine wit.
