It contains all the songs that could be found on earlier British (Very best of) and American (Greatest hits) compilations, plus a few songs never before included on any of them. And everything has been digitally re-mastered, sounding better than ever.

All the famous songs are here including Desperado, Take it to the limit, Lying eyes, Hotel California, Tequila sunrise, New kid in town and Best of my love to name just a few.

Long Road Out Of Eden

It's interesting reading all these other reviews, which tend to be either very positive or very negative. How anyone can possibly be the slightest bit disappointed with Long Road Out Of Eden is beyong me. To me this is one of their strongest releases and damn impressive. Some complain about its length, and that some of these songs shouldn't have been included, but apart from the cover of the dull Guilty Of The Crime I certainly do not agree. Others complain that some of the ballads are too soft and sentimental, but that was always a part of the Eagles sound (The Best Of My Love, I Can't Tell You Why, etc.), so - again! - I don't agree. Hotel California

A very listenable and relaxing album, one that has grown on me over time. The songs fit together very well, in particular I like 'New Kid In Town' and 'Pretty Maids All In A Row'. All of the songs are meaningful, and I'm still getting more from this album each time I listen to it.

The Very Best of the Eagles

This album had been in the CD cabinet for quite a while! Then last Christmas when we had family around my mum brought it out. I lisened to and i thought it was bloody brilliant! There has been very few albums in which you could lisen to every song and it would be great. 'Hotel california' and 'taking it easy' are the most well known songs from the album but 'new kid in town' most of the other tunes are class! Why buy the latest bands album with a few good songs, when you can buy The Very Best of the Eagles and actully get an album in which every song is excellent!!

Desperado

In terms of consistency I would say this is the best Eagles album. All the songs are great and the whole album can be listened to without having to forward past the odd filler - which IMHO can't be said for any other Eagles album.
My second favourite album would probably be One Of These Nights. Sure Hotel California is a great album (Hotel is one my all time favourite songs) but Desperado and One Of These Nights for me these definately have the edge overall. I'm also in total agreement with one of the other reviewers - the Doolin Dalton reprise at the end is magic!

Death By Sexy

This is what would happen if Marc Bolan was on speed. You'll fell like shakin' those hips to this one, this rather unique style is very catchy and you'll not put this down for about 3 weeks which lets face it isn't bad nowadays however if you've not got Peace, Love, Death Metal get that it's much better..

One of These Nights

The 70's was a decade of excellent music, where creativity was at it's peak and for alot of groups good songwriting was at the forefront.

The quality of this group astounds me. The reason I went for this album is because the title track is catchy, but meaningful. My other favourites are Hollywood Waltz (superb lyrics, that really sums up some people), Lyin' Eyes (A superb classic), Visions (great rock song) and After the Thrill is Gone (a beautiful, apt song that instantly struck a chord with me). The whole group write, sing and play such fantastic songs and they all possess decent singing voices.

Unlike some groups the Eagles sing with feeling and you can tell they mean what they sing. It's no wonder Lyin' Eyes ... Read More:

At first glance there are only three tracks worthy of note on this debut album from the Eagles; 'Take it easy', 'Witchy Woman' and 'Peaceful easy feeling'. Let's face it, has anyone heard any of the other tracks on the radio ? True, those three aforementioned tracks are excellent examples of the country flavoured West Coast sound that the Eagles so readily grabbed and made their very own with exquisite harmonies rounded off by some very distinctive guitar work - the instrumental break in 'Peaceful easy feeling' being a good case in point.

However, on closer inspection there are a couple of other gems to be found on here. 'Most of us are sad' a beautiful ballad written by Glenn Frey is sung to great effect by the often forgotten Randy Meisner. The song ... Read More:

There's another customer review of this album on Amazon.co.uk, where the reviewer mentions he's glad that On The Border wasn't his first experience of the Eagles, otherwise it would have been his last. I'd like to offer a flipside: this was my first experience of their music. One day in 1980, my mother came back from town with this album on cassette, which she'd picked up on special offer from WHSmith. I was five years old at the time and hadn't formed any real musical taste, other than listening to various LPs my parents owned and watching the chart music on Top Of The Pops. 'The Long Run' has often been seen as the most enigmatic Eagles album, and many - including, at the time, myself - found it a bit disappointing. A longish time had elapsed since 'Hotel California', and this album seemed much less imediately accessible. True, you had some classic, hit-material songs ('Heartache Tonight', 'The Long Run') but a lot of the album seemed out of kilter with the band as we'd hitherto known them.
