GYBR is usually referred to as a classic album and routinely appears on "Greatest Albums Of All Time" lists. The truth is, it is a terrible album that happens to contain a few classic `70s Pop tunes - namely, the title track, "Candle In The Wind", "Harmony" and "Roy Rogers". There are a couple of half-decent album fillers - the melodic "Sweet Painted Lady" and the rather overblown "I've Seen That Movie Too" - but the rest of the album is abysmal: the falsetto caterwauling of "Bennie And The Jets", the annoying lilt of "Danny Bailey", the horrid `50s pastiche of "Your Sister Can't Twist". Some of the other tracks are actually rather unpleasant and leave a bad taste in the mouth. What is more, the album is very poorly produced. A case in point ... Read More:
Why Is He Famous?
He's a Grammy and Oscar-winning icon, who in the span of three decades gave us such classics as "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," among many others. Then of course, there are his notorious spending habits.
Elton John's ,Woman Magnetism`
He may be gay, but that doesn't mean women don't appreciate what he has to offer.
Elton John deserves a high ranking in this area because he can communicate to women in ways most men can only dream. Common among many adult contemporary artists, Elton's ballads have the ability to melt women's hearts, a gift that goes

Surely, Elton needs no introduction, as he was hugely popular around the world. During the period covered by this compilation, he only had two number one hits in Britain although he had several in America during the same period. Since then, he has had at least four further UK number one hits. So while many people consider the seventies and eighties to be Elton's golden years, he has demonstrated that he is not finished yet.
Even in 1990, Elton had too many great songs to fit on a double CD, the most notable omissions from this one being Tiny dancer, Island girl and Little Jeannie. His more recent compilation covering his career up to 2002 was issued with slightly different track listins in the UK and USA included some of these songs (which ones depend on ... Read More:

Reginald Dwight's 3rd album proper was released in late 1970 and firmly established Elton John as one of the great singer-songwriters of the Seventies. This 2 June 2008 DELUXE EDITION 2CD set is a fully upgraded version of that breakthrough album and in my books is already up there as one of the re-issues of the year.
Here's the layout:
DISC 1 is the 10-track album originally released in the UK in October 1970 on DJM Records DJLPS 410 and in the USA on Uni Records 73096 (47:04 minutes)
DISC 2 is the BONUS DISC containing 13 tracks, 10 of which are PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED and the other 3 are RARITIES with upgraded sound from their previous release in 1988 (1 track) and 1995 (2 tracks) (61:07 minutes)

As a lover of guitar rock, I never thought much of Elton's up-tempo numbers apart from the timeless classic "Crocodile rock" (included here) and the faster tracks on this album don't do anything to alter that opinion. EJ was always better on the slower numbers and the standout tracks (apart from "Rock") are "Daniel", "High flying bird" (Lovely harmonies) and my personal fave, "Texan love song"(great lyrics from Bernie Taupin). "Blues for baby and me" suffers from repetition of a too-long chorus while "Pity the poor criminal" is overblown and melodramatic. Not Elton's best.

This is a very under-rated album in the Elton John cannon. OK it probably isn't as good as Honky Chateau or Tumbleweed Connection, but I suspect that its more to do with the lack of a successful single than the quality of the songs on the album. With the exception of the very short "Goodbye" (1:48) only one other track (Razor face 4:40) is under 5 minutes in length. So unless they edited the songs there was no chance of a single from this album.
The album was recorded in 1971 and kicks of with "Tiny Dancer". Its a great opening track, but its beaten by track 2 "Levon". This has one of Eltons patented Piano introductions, a great lyric and arrangement and is one of Eltons greatest tracks never to be released as a single. Full credit should also be given to ... Probably one of my favourite Elton John albums, favourite tracks We All Fall in Love Sometimes/Curtains, Better Off Dead and Writing. Just one point to the original reviewer, the last three tracks were not on the original album, I have it in vinyl, bought on it's release date and it finishes with Curtains, IMO where it should. These have obviously been added to plump it out at a much later date. I can understand why however because during that time period Lucy and Philadelphia Freedom were only available on a Greatest Hits. I find this album also quite sad as it was the last one before the parting of the ways with Nigel Olsenn and Dee Murray, although of course they came back again much later. I remember going to see the Louder Than Concorde tour at Earl's Court shortly after ... Read More:

The best greatest hits collection so far from the best piano player in pop...and worth buying for the classic "Dont Go Breaking My Heart".
Release Date June 18, 1999
After purchasing this CD, I have to say that It is one of the best Elton John Collections yet. The CD Features a wide range of different songs, from famous ones such as "Candle in the Wind", and "Circle of Life", but also features amazing classics, my favorite of these is "Song For Guy".
An amazing compilation of Elton John to be listened to over and over again.
Release Date July 31, 1995
The singles Honky cat and the awesome rocket man are just two of the stand out tracks on this very good early Elton John album.
I would recommend this album to any genuine Elton fans particualy fans of the albums Tumbleweed connection and madman accross the water. Very good indeed.
