I was in the States when this album came out and it was huge (of course). It's been several years since I listened to it but I have to say it's lost none of its power. Eminem is a warped genius who offends everyone but still manages to endear himselt to everyone at the same time. This was probably the high point of Eminem's career, although some of his later albums are pretty good.

I still say that this is Eminem's masterpiece, his darkest album, and the soundtrack of his darkest hour. It also ploughs the sinister and disturbing recesses of Marshall Mathers' mind, spilling them all out with a lack of reservation which is stunning.

As is so often the case, Dr. Dre's production is impeccable, and what he can do with electronic sound is akin to what some artists can do with paint. Instantly recognisable 'My Name Is' often gets a panning by the artist himself, but it's his signature tune with good reason, being an expert masterclass in uncompromising lyrics, an assault of bad taste and shocking statements, one after the other: BANG, BANG, BANG!

Eminem really does show his true self on this album. Every track is good, hardly any tracks you will need to skip except the skits.

Genius lyrics, em proves he IS the best. - they make you think, and is true, you will be suprised about the issues he brings up and how close you can relate. Brilliant beats - eminem shows his producer skills here at its highest peak, really suits his flow.
Brilliant sequal to MMLP, and one of hiphops greats.

Eminem may well be one of the greatest rappers ever. Despite the less than stellar Encore album being his last proper album to date, his reputation is already cemented based on its three predecessors and he will forever be remembered for that. Then why does he choose to surround himself with such mediocre peers?

Em's crew, which takes in the ultra-offensive D12, 50 Cent's mostly awful G-Unit and the likes of newcomers like Bobby Creekwater, all pile into this mixtape-a-like album that doesn't really gain Eminem much ground following Encore. This isn't an Eminem album, this is an album that is executive produced by Eminem, and quite frankly, production is not Marshall Mathers' strong suit.
