I've been an Enya fan for twenty years and the thing that you can never mistake is the unique "Enya" sound and the wonderful calming effect it can give the listener. Her music has got me through some very stressful times in my life.
Although a winter and Christmas themed album I truly feel this can be played at any time of year and would still sound great. Having said that, this album really does capture the feeling of frost and snow-covered fir trees etc.
The tracks are varied with a nice selection of soft slow tracks along with the more up tempo ones. Of the latter ones, I challenge anyone not to have "Trains and Winter Rains" going around in their head for days! For me, one of the most beautiful tracks has to ... Read More:

Release Date September 19, 1988
This was the album that put Enya on the map musically and it's easy to see why.Haunting vocals, mystical music and an artist of rare talent.
With many fantastic songs including 'Orinoco Flow','Storms In Africa' and 'Evening Falls',this is an album you can switch on,chill out to and just lose yourself. It has stood the test of time too and sounds as refreshing today as when it was originally released.
'Watermark' is a fine album, indeed it is a classic of it's type.Enya may not be to everyone's taste but she is a refreshing alternative to so much of the manufactured pop around today and deserves the worldwide success she has achieved.

I admit it, I am a massive fan of Enya, from the moment I heard Orinoco Flow. I have all her albums, singles and compilations. In my book, she was the start of New Age music. So, I admit to being biased! Her albums take a while to make and the wait is difficult to take. However, when she releases an album, she delivers a 4 or 5 star album.
I agree with the sentiments from Paul of the Netherworld, my fellow reviewer from Brighton who, in his review of the CD single of Amarantine, spoke about other music which exists and tends to dominate the charts.
In the desert, there is always an oasis, and in today's predominantly arid music scene, here is that oasis - another lovely Enya album. The title track is quite similar to "Only Time", and ... Read More:

There is no doubt that you know just what you will get from an Enya album, multi layered vocals, soothing piano and haunting melodies. In that sense, you could say that she is predicatble but when this type of music is done so well it is hard to fault.'Shepherd Moons' is one of Enya's finest pieces of work with many fine tracks.
'Caribbean Blue','Book Of Days' and 'How Can I Keep From Singing?' are all classic Enya.If you just want to wind down after a tough day you could do a lot worse than to put on this CD and chill out.A class act.
Release Date November 21, 2005
I am a very big fan of Enya and have been for many years.I have to say though that I consider 'Amaratine' to be one of her weaker efforts.Although we know just what we will get from her music, this album at times feels almost too predictable and almost sluggish.
Of course there are some moments of excellence, there always are from her.'Amarantine' and 'It's In The Rain' are Enya at her very best but if I am being honest I do in general find this album to be a bit of a let down. She is a top drawer talent to be sure but Enya has done much better than this. For any other artist this would be a good effort but for what I have come to expect from Enya it is average.Still,it does have it's moments.
Release Date November 06, 1992
Although this is a soundtrack album, this does work as a standout piece of music. It can't be considered her finest work but there is still plenty here to enjoy. It goes without saying that this is music to relax to and although some of the tracks don't linger in the memory,'The Celts' is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
Standout tracks here are 'The Celts','Aldebaran' and the fabulous 'Boadicea'.Well worth a listen but perhaps more so than her other albums it does help if you are an Enya fan.
Release Date November 10, 2008
Like a slow moving force of nature, the world slowly turns and brings about another Enya album. One that is destined to sell millions, yet be admitted to by no-one. This advance single from the forthcoming "And Winter Came" album got its exclusive first play on the Terry Wogan radio show, which pretty much sums up its appeal.
It's one of those songs that you don't really notice playing, despite the odd declamation that Enya seems to be making amid some curious vocal patterns. And as if the title wasn't calculating enough at this time of year, they even sneak in the refrain from Agnus Dei. Crafty Christians!
With sixty million or so sales under her shawl, this will be an essential purchase for the many, many people who worship at her altar. ... Read More:

No surprises here, of course -- Enya didn't achieve new age superstardom by challenging anyone's expectations. This album is every bit as hushed, lovely, and soulless as everything else she's ever done; like a perfect angel food cake, it's sweet, soft, and utterly lacking in nutritive substance. There's nothing the matter with angel food cake, of course, and there's also nothing really the matter with The Memory of Trees, though its Druidic theme does smell awfully trendy (nothing was quite so hip as neopaganism in 1995), and it steers so strictly the same melodic and textural course she's been following throughout her solo career that you're tempted to wonder why anyone would want to spend the money on what amounts to a complete rehash of her earlier work. While other cultural ... Read More:
One of the greatest albums of the decade and most certainly one of the greatest works ever to be captured on CD! Undoubtedly Enya's greatest moment which she can never hope to better - but only ever hope to match. She manages to capture every emotion here - and every tempo. A masterpiece where Enya reaches perfection in the extreme. This also includes her greatest single ever (that ironically did not chart - and there goes the British Public for you again! Shame on you!!) in 'Wild Child'. It is one of those songs reminiscent of the days when singles would be bought and played over and over again 'til they were worn out! Each track is perfectly placed, and clearly much thought has gone into this arrangement. There's not a single song that does not belong on this album, ... Read More:
