Maybe because I've always loved the sea and I could explain the fascination I have about the music in this album. Or it could be because it brings back beautiful images from the movie to my mind. This has great performances from Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman, and while it's not in the same league as Leon the Professional (also directed by Luc Besson), there's a lot to enjoy here.

Goldeneye

Back in 1995 when Goldeneye was released, the updating of Bond into the modern era of film worked resoundedly. This was the best Bond film in ages, with the best actor since Connery, and used excellent set pieces and special effects. Shame the same can't be said of the music.

Trying to update the soundtrack to a modern sound failed miserably. It's a weird mix of drums and some kind of techno beat. In the movie, the music really takes backseat to the action, and seems to blend in perfectly, but listening to it on it's own is a jarring sensation.

There are clicks and whirrs, beats and thumps all seemingly arranged in a haphazard formation. It's hard to listen to as it doesn't really have any resemblence to a tune.

Eric Serra has done the music for nearly all of Bessons films and creates a classical urban sort of sound. Highly recomended!! BUY IT!! Mark Jenkinson

Atlantis Soundtrack

Seen the movie? If not, have you seen La Grand Bleu? Liked that soundtrack? Well, Altantis is another Luc Besson movie which is 62 minutes of pure underwater footage with the lush music of Eric Serra. Released 1991, recorded at Abbey Road with the London Royal Philharmonic, this score has many different qualities and a prime example of Eric's excellent orchestral composition. 'Iguana Dance' is an 80's groovy number with guitars ablaze, 'The legends of the Manatees' , 'Visions of the Underway', 'The Creation' and 'The Realms of Ice' are ambient classics. 'Time to get your lovin' (with lyrics from Eric Serra and Vanessa Paradis) is a beautiful, extremely passionate love song.
