The majority of items on this disc are the exact same as the
Eurythmics collection previously released and already a part of many Annie fan's collections.
The tracks are crisp and clear and the re-mastering is evident, Annie's voice front and centre, as it always was.
'I've got a life' - was new to me, I didn't find it as good as anything on the album 'Bare' and whilst powerfully sung I didn't feel it wasn't any new tack for the group.
'I saved the world today' - again, not as good as anything on 'Bare', you get the sense of a message perhaps lost, we know her music does have a lot of saving graces but the world?
Maybe I missed something there.
Some classic items here, 'Thorn in my side', 'Sweet dreams', ... Read More:

I was never particularly keen on the electronic music that dominated much of the eighties pop scene in Britain, but I found that Annie Lennox's outstanding voice and Dave Stewart's superb songwriting outweighed any reservations I might have about the electronics they employed.
Annie (born on Christmas Day) and Dave originally made their mark in the Tourists, a five-piece group who had several UK hits including a cover of I only want to be with you (Dusty Springfield), which peaked at number four - exactly as Dusty's version had done in the sixties. The Tourists disbanded after a couple of years but Dave and Annie later emerged as a duo, the Eurythmics.
The Eurythmics were at their most successful between 1983 and 1986 during ... Read More:

After great synth albums like Sweet Dreams and Touch and 1985's Soul/R&B excursion Be Yourself Tonight, Eurythmics created this riveting rock album with its melodic masterpieces. I don't like the meandering Missionary Man, but besides that it's genius all the way!
Thorn In My Side is a dramatic ballad with a great sense of finality, When Tomorrow Comes is a soaring number where Annie's voice soars full throttle, The Last Time is an eerie, brooding ballad with strange voice effects, and The Miracle Of Love is another lovely tuneful pop song.
These rank amongst the best compositions of Eurythmics, on a par with classics like Love Is A Stranger, Sweet Dreams, Right By Your Side and There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart). I also ... Read More:

This is a classic album from the 1980's, and brings back many memories. It got me listening to Eurythmics in the 1st place. "No Fear, No Hate, No Pain", in particular, is a superb track that, for some reason, is not on our "Eurythmics Greatest Hits" CD.
I bought this album to replace my vinyl copy, and was pleased that they had remastered it. But why, or why? does the record company feel inclined to fill the rest of the CD with such dross, that upsets the balance of the original album - I, for one, would have paid the full price for just the original 9 tracks. As it is, I have only loaded these first 9 tracks into my iTunes library, and will be burning a 'scratch' CD of them to play in the car.

Eurythmics followed up the fragile and dream-like In the Garden with this album of pure pop genius. The early 1980s saw an explosion of synthesizer-driven sounds and there were other duos too, like OMD and Yazoo, but Eurythmics surpassed them all. This enhanced album contains 6 additional tracks and a booklet in a fold-out sleeve with historical notes and beautiful full color pics.
Sweet Dreams provided Eurythmics with the commercial breakthrough in its shimmering masterpieces such as Love Is A Stranger and the oneiric title track. The videos of these two songs are superb too. Not all the tracks are flowing pop songs though; there's also the ethereal I've Got An Angel and the enervated experimental Wrap It Up, plus the more soulful outings I Could Give You ... Read More:

This could have been a great album. It starts with the stomping Would I Lie to You? A propulsive guitar-based pop rocker, this song dissolved the cool and cruel beauty of Lennox's incomparable vocals on Sweet Dreams and Touch and introduced an aggressive and raunchy tone. Alas, it was not to be for the Eurythmics to develop their sound in the fashion for the rest of the album, uniting the synths and soul with guitar driven pop rock. To follow this song with the abominable and silly commercial twaddle of There Must Be an Angel was unbelievable to me at the time of the album's release, and the years between have not softened my opinion. The rest of the songs are just okay-the second half is almost entirely filler. Ball and Chain almost succeeds in getting the rock'n'roll elements ... Read More:

This DVD just has to be one of the most lazy recent music compilations released.
The videos: The omission of Sex Crime and Julia may be explained due to contractual issues, the songs being released on Virgin. Still, that was not a problem a few years back when the original compilation was released, Shame. There are additionally so many other songs missing (not a single one from We Two Are One), Shame.
Sound: I thought my system had broken down. There is no surround sound here folks. Actually, it is muffled and seems to be concentrated on the central speaker, Shame.
Footage transfer: It's alright, but could have been better, Shame.
Other features: There aren't any, Shame.
The content itself has stood the test of time, ... Read More:

How did Eurythmics come up with such a storming and appropriate piece of music?. Having seen the film and read the book numerous times I am astonished that a band coould put together such a musical likeness. Its uncanny how well the music meets the mood of the book. And I recently heard that very little of this musical genius was used?...what would Jaws or Good/Bad/ugly be without their accompanying music? The music is gloomy as one would expect with references to concepts in the book (doubleplusgood, malibar front, bb's speech etc.). 'For the love of Big Brother" captures that gloominess best but the song is very infectious with wonderful female harmonies. 'doubleplusgood" is very fast and almost poppy, in a singles sort of way. The award for best song, however goes to "julia" ... Read More:

After dominating the decade with their sublime music, Eurythmics bowed out in 1989 with this accomplished pop album, full of their usual strong hooks and poetic lyrics. It is imbued with a sense of loss and farewell, especially so on the rousing but sad King and Queen of America and the atmospheric When The Day Goes Down with its beautiful lyrics about compassion for the weak.
Don't Ask Me Why and Angel made the charts in the UK and are the more immediately accessible tracks here. Not quite as brilliant as Savage, Be Yourself Tonight or Revenge, this is nevertheless still a strong work which all Eurythmics fans will appreciate. We Two Are One has now been substantially enhanced with bonus tracks and deluxe packaging that includes a booklet with previously unreleased photographs and historical ... Read More:

The 1987 album Savage saw Eurythmics return to their electronic/experimental roots after the soul/R&B excursion Be Yourself Tonight (1985) and the full-bodied pop-rock of Revenge (1986). It has been substantially enhanced with the addition of 5 bonus tracks and deluxe packaging that includes a booklet with historical notes.
Whilst Beethoven (I Love To Listen To) is experimental yet catchy and I've Got A Lover (Back In Japan) tuneful and pleasant enough, it's with the buoyant Do You Want To Break Up? that the album really gathers momentum. The next 3 songs are true classics, each reflecting a different side of Eurythmics at their most creative. The deceptively breezy You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart is a strange mix of cynicism and hope, despair and elation.
