Stayin' Home With The Blues

Freddie King is very rocky with a Texas style bluesman and this album really displays it. You can clearly see where guitarists such as Eric Clapton and Johnny Winter got some of their style from. This album is a great representation of his work with some great songs. For me as a young guitarist I would rate this as first class to any of the other blues influences and modern bands I have heard. Its an awesome album definately worth getting.

Let's Hide Away and Dance Away With Freddie King: Strictly Instrumental

One of the most influential albums of all time and hugely listenable. Purely instrumental but the tunes are all melodic and entertaining. Guitarists will get a lot out of listening to the originals of tunes such as Hideaway and everyone will enjoy the upbeat and timeless music.
Eric Clapton and Peter Green cut their teeth on this album but the music stands well the test of time and still sounds good today.

Texas in My Blues

One of the most influential albums of all time and hugely listenable. Purely instrumental but the tunes are all melodic and entertaining. Guitarists will get a lot out of listening to the originals of tunes such as Hideaway and everyone will enjoy the upbeat and timeless music.
Eric Clapton and Peter Green cut their teeth on this album but the music stands well the test of time and still sounds good today.

Wow ,what a disc i did hear this about 20 years ago on tape & i had forgot just how dazzling freddie is.Not a bad track on the entire cd & his voice is amazing,the playing is stunning just try sugar sweet with its almost discord opening notes or the pure instumental pulp wood.I had a dream is pure electic blues with freddie sounding great,the jj cale number i got the same old blues never sounded this good before,buy this with confidence you will not be sorry.

Ultimate Collection

The word ultimate tends to get thrown around on cds nowadays, however, I can honestly say it definately applies to this cd. What more can I say except BUY IT! Great vocals and superb guitar playing, it is easy to see why Freddie King was such a massive influence on blues guitarists such as Eric Clapton and Mick Taylor. Absolutely brilliant!

These Atlantic albums are beautiful.
Great playing, great singing and amazing contributions from Donny Hathaway and others brought in to RnB-ify the overall sound.
Freddie's singing was never better than this.
Nobody has topped his versions of Yonders Wall and Ain't Nobodys' Business.

Larger Than Life

Oh dear the studio track are, for the most part, absolutely awful! The live stuff is much better though. Its a shame that there's no studio recording of Have You Ever Loved A Woman from the late 60's or 70's. The one on here is live and more of an example of how Freddie adapted his music with different bands and audiences.
Approach with caution as you will be dissapointed with 50% of the album, especially as Burglar came out just before this.
Freddie is a class act, but this album amounts to odds and ends really.
