I've followed FFAF since I picked up Casually Dressed in my local music shop several years ago having never heard any of their material before. I wasn't disappointed. Like the other reviewer I have always felt their strength has been in crafting big strong melodic rock songs peppered with some excellent 'metal' musicianship. Memory and Humanity doesn't deviate from this foundation and provides another quality, highly listenable album.
The absence of the screamed vocals, (being only present on a few tracks) will probaby deter the Casually Dressed fundamentalists, but to be honest I prefer the more natural vocals it works better with the style of music. Screaming is all well and good in the context of angry political rantings and ... Read More:

I bought this album on the strength of the first track Into Oblivion but was pleasantly surprised by how good the rest of it is. The Great Wide Open is another stand out track. Well worth buying.

This album is masterful. It really is excellent; in almost every song. The screaming(or aggressive vocals)from the drummer and the melodic singing from the frontman are both perfect. Fitting the songs perfectly, they make some decent tracks. Ok, not just 'some'. Most of the tracks on this album are excellent.
The album actually takes at least two listens until you get into it and begin to understand the band. At first you may be led to believe that it all sounds the same. But when you give it a chance, and listen to the songs a couple of times- the songs begin to become more than good. They become excellent. The best songs on the album are: "Red is the new black", "Rookie of the year" and "Junea". Each one of those three songs have excellent ... Read More:

This album is absolutely fantastic, and is one of the best in its genre. Each track has fantastic lyrics and musicality, defined by perfect soaring guitar lines and incredible chord sequences.

As a long term FFAF fan, I am suitably pleased that after a slight dip in standard on TDTT, the boyos ave rediscovered some of the quirks which made them award winners earlier in their career. A touch of screamed vocals, but not too much as that genre is so overdone and passe now, and more importantly a return to time signature changes which they used to such good effect on early EPs and CDADIC. In feel this album is closer to Hours I guess, but pays homage to earlier styles, and tracks like Waterfront Danceclub, Cant see the Forest and Beneath The Burning Bush, are slotting in beautifully with the old stuff on their live set.
There isnt a bad track on the album, and I guess still some slow burners for me yet, in months to come I suspect Maybe I Am, Constant ... Read More:

This cd is a must have, it contains some of their best songs. They are alot heavier and raw then in most of their other songs on their later albums. It contains red is the new black and escape artists never die which are on casually dressed. But includes 5 other amazing songs. The Getaway plan is an amazing song and the vocals sound alot different as Matt Davies was experimenting with his voice. All in all it contains the best songs FFAF have ever written. Buy It!!

Deeply ashamed of all you FFAF fans who dislike this album purely for the lack of the main screamo influence *grins* Casually Dressed and Seven ways (as well as Between Order and Model their FIRST cd) were brilliant screamo albums, and Casually Dressed has to be one of my favourites of all time, from any artist and I have quite a big cd collection. Hours still has the odd screamo feel, with End of Nothing, but the band has really evolved here, Matt's vocals in no way convey less emotion, perhaps less 'You left me and now i'm pissed off and breaking shit' emotion but his vocals are as always, awesome, and give off such a wide range of emotion and ability. The guitars of Kris and and Darran are as always, fucking amazing, metal riffs at their best, or softer ... Read More:

I remember hearing the original recording "Juno" late one night & was utterly impressed, so much so that I managed to track down the "Between Order & Model" e.p (this being back in the day before they even released the 4 ways... ep) - It was a song that really just made you sit up & listen, at the time I thought it was one of the best tunes I'd heard in a long while....
And then they decided to re-record it for the album. Not only that they decide to kil the power & aggression of original. - The whole song's sound was suppressed for a more 'radio-friendly' version that no doubt got them more exposure but at the cost of ruining arguably their best track. The aggressive vocals were dropped, the guitar lines lost their edge & a new vocal line introduced that was possibly ... Read More:
