The Fading Room: Memories & Remixes

I first heard of Future Loop Foundation through the The Just Music Café album (highly recommended in itself - downtempo bliss). Shame on me - he's been around for years!

The Fading Room consists of two albums - the Memories, released individually as an album a couple of years ago, and the Remixes. It's jolly good of them to release the original album again along with the remixes.... they're quite different.

All are based around audio interviews dug out of the loft, of various family members being interviewed by a youngster in the early 70's about hobbies, hopes, dreams and memories. Sound odd? Time and Bass

Maybe it's best to get yourself into a car on a sunny day, wind down the windows, drive to the coast and play this album all the way there....that's one of the ways in which this album revealed it's many merits to me. Alternatively there's sitting in a room with soft lights and smoke or lounging in your back garden in the height of summer....but you know how you like to listen to music, don't you?!!

Think "Timeless" by Goldie and you'll be in the ballpark of the era but this album seemed to be shamefully neglected. Think "Logical Progression" by LTJ Bukem and you'll be playfully nudging up against the chilled ambience that permeates these tunes - if you're after banging and breakbeats then this album is a few years too early.
