I listened to this album first in 1996 at university. It belonged to a friend, but I went straight out and bought it, I liked it that much. Sat about on the grass on campus we, my friends and I, spent many a Summer afternoon doing very little, chilling out to the laid-back music of G. Love & his Special Sauce.
I like the album's catchiness, 'Baby got Sauce' immediately entered into my 'favourite tracks ever' list, but 'Cold Beverage' was the track of the holiday for us all. Lemonade & a double scoop...
I lent this album out and never recieved it back, annoyingly, but recently re-bought it and reacquainted myself with all my old favourites. This album makes me smile from the opening bars. Not just out of nostalgia, but because ... Read More:

Has G. Love ever made a bad record??? The answer is NO!!! and this no exception. This album is a pure ray of sunshine from track one through to the last. As with previous G Love (and Special Sauce) albums, there are several highlights throughout. Lyrically it doesn't disappoint either. The highlights for me personally on this album are 'Ride', 'Hot Cookin','Holla', 'Can't Go Back To Jersey' and a 12 string masterpiece 'Still Hangin Round'. There is also a new version of Rainbow feat Jack Jonhson originally from the 'Thicker Than Water' soundtrack. Track 13 is a soul searching song called 'Breakin up' and could bring the biggest of men to tears. If your a fan of any of the othe G Love or G Love and Special Sauce releases, there is no way you'll be ... Read More:

If you like any of these artists, you should buy it. There are some great interactions between these artists more noted for their solo work.

From the moment i first put this record on, it had me dancing and smiling. Upbeat tracks like the opener "Astronaught" and "Don't drop it" will have you body bopping around the house! That's not to say that there's no depth here; some of the mellower tracks are simply fantasic too (front porch lounger, loving me, waiting, sunshine). The basic theme is "slacker" hip-hop. A delivery that comes on somewhere between Jack Johnson and Beck, and at times some of the mellower moments from Everlast's "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" LP. The real mixing pot of influences stretch through hip-hop, country, blues, jazz and even a little bossa nova on "Two Birds". The most impressive thing is how easily G LOVE incorperates them all to form such a cohesive sound. ... Read More:

If you've heard the two widely available cds, this one comes as quite a shock - still funky, but much harder to listen to. Nowhere near as smooth as "G-Love..." or "Philadelphonic", and the only track that really stands out is "Kiss and tell". This is still a better record than most - it just isn't as accessible as Gs' other stuff. If you're desperate for more, I'd reccomend tracking down "Yeah, It's That Easy" on import first.

If your a fan of G. Love and Special Sauce you cannot not pass on the opportunity to own this CD/DVD. Not only does it contain amazing live performances of material created by the band over the last 13 years but it also has great in depth interview and incite into the bands workings. Like a lovable dysfunctional family the band have some crazy love hate relationship going on which is all held together by a love for what they do.
Seriously check this out especially if you haven't got to see them live personally.
