Brazilian Love Affair

I've owned this album for more than 20 years, first on vinyl and now on CD, and in all those years it's always put a smile on my face when I've played it. From the minute the agogo bells kick in on track 1, I'm transported to somewhere that's hot, sunny and full of beautiful people.....

Standout tracks include the opener, "Brazilian Love Affair", which features an awesome Rhodes solo on the out chorus, perfectly matched by some classic 70s string-synth. Other favourites are "Brazilian Sugar" and "Sugar Loaf Mountain", which has some of the sweetest rhythm guitar playing you'll ever hear.

The essential George Duke speaks for itself, hardcore jazz funkers will love it!
"Brazillian love affair" is a classic as is "Reach out" and the dance floor masterpiece "Scuse me miss" However my alltime fav track is "I want you for myself" The female vocalist sounding not unlike deniece williams! "Dukey stick" sounding straight out of the george clinton/parliament stable
With a total of 33 tracks, this is unbeatable value, and a variety of different rhythms and beats for the hardcore fan.

A well picked choice of tracks from those fabulous MPS albums, made in the years just before George signed up with the big boys and started wavin' his Dookie Stick y'aaall. Features a demon rhythm section of Alphonso Johnson and Ndugu Chancler on most tracks, plus Airto and Flora popping up here and there. All fully remastered and available at a sorely tempting budget price.

After Hours

What little of his instrumental tracks I've heard in the past I've always liked, but the burly Mr D does have an unfortunate tendency to sing or to invite other people to do so on his albums, which messes things up in a rather big way. Here, however, we have his first all instrumental album in 20 years (so he says in the sleeve notes) and what a truly stonkingly good endeavour it is on all fronts. The general theme is a night of seduction following a roustabout opening track based on the idea of a harassing battle home through the rush hour traffic. It's all mood and atmosphere but with an excellent underlying tension and flow, whilst his jazz piano playing is utterly superb.
