If you like George Formby, you are going to like this album. All his hits are here: When I'm cleaning Windows to Mr Woo.
Release Date April 12, 2004
Five CDs that can't help but make you smile. Look, it's George Formby, you know what you're going to get. But on so many levels I was still suprised. Once I got used to the scratchy recordings (especially on his earlier work) and put it in the context of 1920s/30s music hall it became very obvious exactly why Formby had such a huge following. His syncopated banjolele style is a joy to listen to - the boy could play. There is far more depth to these recordings than is first apparant. Oooh Mother!

Well, nearly 2 years after submitting my review for the first box set from JSP records, I thought I would do likewise for Volume II.
There are again 5 CD's, this time totalling 109 tracks. The first 4 CD's take us in chronological order from "Swinging along, singing a song" (first time on CD) to "Come hither with your zither".
The fifth CD carries on from there, including all the songs from "Zip Goes A Million", even going so far as to include a couple of tracks which George was not involved with ("It takes no time to fall in love" and "Nothing breaks but the heart").
We then have 16 alternative takes of songs included either in the first box set or elsewhere within this one (including 3 I'd never heard ... Read More:

Edna owns three other toothy George CDs and this is arguably the best - cheap at half the price! There are occasional duff tracks like "The Ghost" and "Baby" but there's a lot of great stuff here too: greatest hits and also rarer songs that don't appear on any other albums I've seen. Sample line from "The Left Hand Side of Egypt": "I found the gold watch case all right, but she gave me the works on the following night." GENIUS!
