Like maybe most of the people buying this cd issue, I got it as a replacement for the triple vinyl box. Nicely tweaked here and there and the new content a joy to hear.
Now that a few years have passed since the CD issue and, given the much overdue remastering afforded the fabs back catalogue, is it not time for some work to be done on this fine album? Take away some of the 'of-it's-time' production and over arrangement and what is a great album could be turned into the master work I believe it to be. Messrs Lynne, Edmunds, Brown and Harrison junior should get to work on it!

It really is time a proper George solo best of was put together. Even our Ringo has had one recently! This album was originally released in the mid seventies and has the best of Georges Beatle songs and the best of his solo output up till then. I think the Beatles stuff is on here to remind the public that Lennon and McCartney didn't just write the songs. All this aside though, every song on this album is a winner, its just very sparse.

I remember trying to get a ticket to the actual concert for George, and not being able to. I knew this would be a fitting and memorable event. The lineup included a lot of his friends and former colleagues, for example Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, and Tom Petty. I assume the majority of people buying and istening to this CD are Beatles/George Harrison fans. I certainly fall into that category.
I was moved beyond words and description by this concert. There was an immeasurable outpouring of love, although not in a cringey, gushing way, just in a way that showed the reverence he was held in by those who knew him. Although there were international superstars, nobody tried to steal the show. They ... Read More:

I've just discovered this album for the first time. It's absolutely brilliant, really uplifting and all the songs are "fab," even the bonus songs from Shanghai Surprise made me want to see that film again!!!
I always had a soft spot for George from The Beatles days and his songs were always one's I would listen out for on the Beatles albums. I have the EMI 'Best of' album & later replaced it with the CD & only recently after the success of the re-mastered Traveling Willburys, has my interest in other works from George been re-ignited.
This is a perfect match for that fantastic collection that recently topped the charts in the UK.
This album is fantastic, it's hard to pick a favourite. You can dance to it, you can play ... Read More:

This is a beautiful heartfelt masterpiece by george. His lyrics and melodies have surpassed both lennon and mccartney in their solo recordings. It,s a shame george was so underrated both in his beatles work and his solo career. This collection of songs is up there with anything
lennon/mccartney ever done. It,s a classic right through from (Any road
) to( brainwashed). This is a mostly acoustic led cd with some delicious slide guitar and the ukulele thrown in for good measure
This is a must buy cd,right up there with (all things must pass)(george harrison) and (cloud nine).

I tried very hard to like this album, but I don't. While the musicianship is good, if uninspired, the vocal performances are, by and large, awful. Harrison, Dylan, Russell and Preston never had the greatest of vocal talents anyway, and it isn't until the last tracks ('Something' and 'Bangla Desh') that Harrison finds anything of a voice at all. Starr's contribution is just toe-curlingly awful. And why the bonus track, Dylan's 'Love Minus Zero/No Limit', was left off the original album, only Krishna knows. On this evidence it was easily his strongest performance. An album for fans and completists only I'm afraid.

Compared to his former co-band members in the Beatles, George Harrisons solo output may be considered the most uniform. Not one to wildly diverge as far as styles and soundscapes go, his albums were written either because he felt like writing or because he had to write. As much as we love George to this day, the fact of the matter is, that this was a solo career headed for the dumps. A few prolonged projects in the mid 70's ate away his recording time, and when he returned, the record buying public were looking elsewhere. George was less impressed with the workings and demands of record companies, and even less impressed with the musical tastes of the late 70's. After delivering a fine album (33 1/3) to his new record company, he would go on to watch sales drop, the record company ... Read More:

This is a seriously good album by any standards.
Brainwashed displays many of the elements of George's life and beliefs, from his love of 30s music - a charming version of Devil and the Deep Blue Sea - to his spirituality, sense of humour and concern for the state of the world. The instrumental Marwa Blues shows yet again his ability on slide guitar and Any Road is the best start to any Harrison album.
Even though it was not really planned as an album, the songs work well together and it sounds like a proper record rather than a selection of out-takes.
The playing is, as always on George's albums, first-rate and the production is a bit less slick than on Cloud Nine and better for it. Jeff Lynne and Dhani did a great job in finishing off the material. ... Read More:

This was George Harrison's monster hit single from his 'All Things Must Pass' album - released in 1970 after the Beatles split up and remastered / re-released in 2000 as the start of an undertaking by George to eventually remaster all of his albums. The 30th anniversary edition of "All Things Must Pass" is now on a double CD (the original release was a triple vinyl) - which includes some bonus tracks - notably the wistful "I Live For You" (how this got left off the original is beyond belief - apparently George wasn't happy with some aspect of the original take) and a brand new treatment of "My Sweet Lord" which features Sam Brown. "My Sweet Lord" was the subject of a very protracted court case in the USA, which cost George a fortune in royalties from the ... Read More:
