I've owned this Cd for many years, and still marvel why this guy doesn't get the universal praise he deserves.Aficionado's have loved him for years, maybe he only appeals to jazz sax' players,but the guy never runs out of ideas,and if you love modern jazz and have the ears to listen, jump on board.

The Optimist

VGood album... Things have moved on since the last. Catagorising this ablum is not easy. Some tracks are Jamiroquai meets James-Taylor-Quatet and easy on the ear. 95% of the album is Flugel.

"Blah de blah" and "Patchy Sunshine" (great V/C changes) are my own personal pick.

Chasing Reality

This album is superb. Gerard has excelled in every aspect of his horn playing on his latest project "Chasing Reality". It is a fantastic modern masterpeice with outstanding playing from all parties including the excellent Chris Dagley on drums. I have followed Gerard since playing next to him at Nyjo rehersals many years ago, and now he is the complete horn player and also world renowned. I advise anyone to purchase this album, it has a fine cross over from small be-bop jazz group to modern alternative avangard jazz. A master peice. Well done mate.

These are the guys who quietly do session work on all those smash hit tunes that get played for years and years - tunes by US2, Incognito, Sting, Zero 7 to name a few. This is the music they really want to play. The result is some brilliant original grooves, fantastic collective improvisation and funky, twisty compositions that are bang up to date. I love the first track the most and have been known to play it 5 times back to back!
