If you've never heard Gilberto Gil or Brazilian Music before this is CD is a must. Gil is a master. He's been around since the sixties and is a real folk hero in Brazil in the same way that John Lennon is over here. Indeed, some of his early music was partly inspired by The Beatles. - Listen out for the guitar hook from 'Day Tripper' played on the accoustic bass!

This album was inspired by the various 'Unplugged' titles that were released in the early to mid 1990's. The songs have been stripped down but come alive through evocative arrangements and with the help of several ethnic, folk instruments from both the South American Continent and Africa.

This is the route I took to get into the music (thanks George!). This is a classic album which I bought on vinyl many years ago. It contains the classic underground club hit Maracatu Atomico which is soooooo good it is worth the few quid asked for this album.
Gilberto Gil has been making quality music for more years than I care to mention. Try this and then give Djavan a listen. You have a whole new musical world waiting for you to discover.Go check it!
