I have been a fan of this lady since the beginning, and yes I am very biased towards her and her music.
But in my humble opinion I dont think she has ever made a bad record and that is some achivment in this day and age, the greatest female voice backed up by the one and only Pips.
If you only have one record in your collection make it this one..........
Release Date September 24, 2007
I bought this album because my good good friend selfishly moved out with her copy of one of the Pips albums. I haven't even got around to listening to the 2nd album in this disc set because the 1st CD is so good!
Always loved "I Feel A Song In My Heart" and no matter how many times I play it it still makes me want to sing and bop along. Have a new found love for 60's, especially Motown and this was well worth the buy.

Gladys Knight and the Pips made some records before they signed to Motown, but those records were not successful, so these are the earliest important recordings.
I heard it through the grapevine was their first major hit, going to number two in the American pop chart (and topping the R+B chart) and also giving them a minor British hit. Gladys recorded the song at around the same time as Marvin Gaye, but Motown originally selected the version by Gladys and the Pips for single release. Marvin’s version was released as a single a year later and topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The two versions are very different despite both being produced by Norman Whitfield. He obviously loved the song as he also produced versions ... Read More:

It was well documented that the real deep soulsters at Hitsville were rarely allowed in to the top echelons of Berry's empire. And so it was with Gladys,Brenda Holloway and Kim Weston. This twofer is a wonderful showcase for Gladys and The Pips. Her voice is yearning, flexible and emotional, and the interplay with The Pips is harmonically perfect.
''Neither One Of Us'',of course, is the ultimate break up song, but as with many of these compilations there are always hidden little unknown gems, that you discover.
For me these were ''I'll be here when you get home'' and the exquisite ''It's bad for me to see you'' penned by Gloria Jones and Pam Sawyer, with great production by Ivy Jo Hunter and Bobby Taylor.
Soul heaven.Wholeheartedly recommended. ... Read More:

This album is pure class. It's tracks are bang up-to-date but will no doubt remainn timeless. Also, it is very well produced and it's recordings have been perfectly mastered. It's the type of disc that a serious Hi-Fi system craves. It's a pity there aren't more CD's around that are as good as this. If you love harmonics, melody and the sweet sound of the beautiful female voice, buy this album without hesitation.

While Gladys recorded some excellent music for various other record labels, particularly for Motown, she will be best remembered for her music of the mid-seventies with Buddha. This British budget compilation is drawn exclusively from the Buddha vaults.
The chart history of the group is confusing, not least because some records charted in America but not Britain when originally released, but charted in Britain when reissued. However, all the big hits in both countries are included here.
Midnight train to Georgia, I've got to use me imagination, Best thing that ever happened to me, Baby don't change your mind and the medley Try to remember / The way we were - each and every one of these are classics. Other great songs include So sad the ... Read More:

These were Gladys Knight & The Pips first and second albums for Motown. They are repackaged with three re-recordings of their earlier biggest hits, and a non-album B side, co-written and also recorded by Marvin Gaye.
The standout track of 'Everybody Needs Love' has to be their incendiary version of '...Grapevine'. Lets not argue about whether they or Marvin recorded it first, but Glad and The Lads' was released a good year before, and sold two and a half million copies (mostly in the US). Also here are two British hits 'Take Me In Your Arms And Love Me', still on radio platlists, and 'Just Walk In My Shoes' which got re-released and was a hit in '72, following interest by DJ Johnnie Walker. The rest of the album is more than filler, and shows ... Read More:
