Hello Destiny

I have been a long time Goldfinger fan. I got into them around the 'stomping ground' era and have loved them ever since. Hello Destiny is based around albums between 'self titled' and 'stomping ground' in my opinion, as the album has elements of ska and punk rock.

This album is vastly different from disconnected notice, however part of me isn't convinced thats a good thing. I must admit, when I first heard DN when it was first released I was dissapointed, as the album didn't reflect the goldfinger I fell in love with. However, over time I began to appriciate DN for what it was, and when you try not to compare it with 'old' goldfinger (like so many people do) its not actually a bad album, and you can see the clear change and growth ... Open Your Eyes

I bought this album quite a while ago and the album is regulary listened to. Tracks such as January, Decision, it's your life, but to name a few are catchy and very well executed. I had not heard much about goldfinger except the songs, open your eyes, spokesman, 99 red balloons, and superman. I saw them live on their last tour and i am seeing them again this year. I love their music. They're fantastic live and very funny. I recommend this album to anyone who loves punk music. P.S they have finished recording their new album. it shoud be out this year. Can't wait.

Stomping Ground

Until my work experience i had never heard of these people!
I could not believe what i'd been missing!
This album is awesome, lots of catchy song which completley work.
To start with i was not so keen on some of the songs but after listening to them a few times they are all great.
Donut Dan (the 40 close to the album) is slightly pointless, and Bro the heaviest song on the album was not my favourtie.
The cover of 99 Red Balloons is genius and would be a great way to end the album. A top punk album.
But now i love this group andcant wait to see them in concert...when they come to england!

Goldfinger

After downloading a few Goldfinger tracks I decided it was time to buy an album. I'd noticed the popular case of 'their first album's the best' applied here again, so I thought I jump in at the beginning. I'm pleased I did, and this punk rock/ska album doesn't fail to disappoint.

After my first listen through the only tracks that really said much to me were 'Here in Your Bedroom' and 'Mable', both of which are brilliant, really bouncy tunes. Thankfully, other tracks pulled through that make the rest worthwhile.

A few more listens and I settled into the other tracks. There are some great chanting choruses included throughout the album. 'Minds Eye' is a lively opener that sets the scene well. 'Answers' is a great one, with a hint ... Read More:

Best of (+ DVD) [Us Import]

I love this album. I heard of Goldfinger, as a lot of people did, through the Tony Hawks game. I heard Superman and i'd always sing along to it. I had this for my birthday two days ago and, because i am a vegetarian my favourite song is Open Your Eyes. My vegan friend also likes this song and we try and force out views on people although we shouldn't and now we have Goldfingers help hahahaha. I reccomend this album to anyone who has only just discovered Goldfinger, as it gives the best songs of their career.

Hangups

I, like 95% of the people who have bought this album, bought it for Superman, and yes, it is a very good tune. However, the band made the great decision to have it as the lead in track of the album and get it out of the way, and then we get into the meat of the album. And it's as meaty as Meat Loaf's dinner.
Goldfinger are a band who like to mix it up a bit. They havn't spent their whole career playing just ska, or just punk, or just metal. In fact, in the space of one album they traditionally cover all three mediums and more. John's vocals provide the right growl for grown man angst that is terribly believable, even more so when you realise the depths of his beliefs (see open your eyes for one of the messages he is trying to get across).

99 Red Balloons

This song means alot to me. Me and my best guy friend always stick on this CD and let all of our worries dissapear. It's amazing lyrics and catchy rhythm mean that you never get bored. It is our song. Give it a chance and it could be your song to. No matter if you have the album(s)I would recommend you buy this because you dont have to flick right to the end of the album to hear it. You jsut stick it on and rock away til your hearts content. A true ska-punk cover. ali x

Disconnection Notice: Parental Advisory

I was very pleased to finally get this album as i am a huge fan of golfinger.
With such great albums as Open your Eyes and Stomping Ground behind them it will always be hard to emulate on their previous greatness but they do deliver very well.
Going back to their roots of Ska Punk and also with more personal songs e.g. Iron Fist explains about lead singer John Feldmann's encounter with the FBI and Behind the Mask explains about his views on animal cruelty and his veganism.
Forgetting the more serious side with awesome songs like stalker and wasted, damaged, I want, My Everything, Too many nights, Iron fist and Walk Away this is a great album.
Why it is a Parental Advisory i do not know! they only swear once in Walk Away and that is the only one ... Read More:

Darrin's Coconut Ass: Live

Yeah, well this cd ehh. Its pretty good. Competant playing and everything, but basically its goldfinger covering a load of somgs they liked when they were growing up. I mean i have this cd and, i could put out something like this (although at the moment it wouldnt sell as well.

Instead of this maybe try the first goldfinger cd which is really good, or if covers are you thing go to a bed linen distributer or try Fat Mike from NOFX's side project me first and the gimme gimmies!.

In conclusion to relate, at the top of the page it reads "We're pleased you'd like to review Darrin's Coconut Ass.". Yes well Darren nice ass, nothing special but nice.
