Well thank goodness all that "Number 1" pap is well behind us, and the luscious, dirty and fantabulous Goldfrapp have went back to making decent records. Granted, they peaked a couple of years back, but this is still the sexiest record of the year so far.

No idea why the dribble that is "Slide In (DFA remix) Edit" was allowed near a pressing plant, but maybe it ties in with the garbage from the "White Horse" video.

Strict Machine [CD 2]

This cd single has to stand the comparison with CD 1, which is brilliant.And well, it doesn't.
The Ewan Pearson remixes of "Strict Machine" and "Train" are dull (here we can only find the dub versions, vocal versions can be found on the promo 12"ers)It seems they did not want to give the good remixes away to the people who buy the CDs..whoever knows why..
The Rowan Remix is kind of okay though.

until Goldfrapp i'd never heard anything quite like this! imagine a gorgeous bond girl on acid out for revenge, with music to match, and you might begin to get the idea.... It's rare these days to find this type of drama and mystery in a pop song, and i find myself thinking back [i'm afraid] to the mid eighties when bands weren't afraid to let rip and be something other than pre-packed manufactured goods. I recommend this single wholeheartedly, and the only reason i haven't given it five stars is because i'm reserving those for Utopia, another brilliant track from the Felt Mountain album.

Seventh Tree

This album is exquisite, beautiful, wonderful. A truly lovely piece of work. It sounds like Goldfrapp are developing as artistes and they're playing stuff they're much more into. You can't really compare it to their other albums; Black Cherry is a sublime opus that stands on its own. I can't say how good this record is; it's just great! If you like Goldfrapp, you might like Broken Social Scene.

Number 1 [VINYL]

This is a U.S release to hold fans over until the state-side release of Supernature. Number 1 and it's remix are excellent, as well as the Tiefschwarz remix of Ooh La La. One downside is that the video is not a music video, but a documentary-type. Still worth the seven dollars it costs.
