If Enimem came from Wales, he might sound like this. You Knows It.
This could've been brilliant. It could've been ok. Instead it's just....
Imagine a bunch of twenty somethings, raised on the A-team, obsessed with The Bill and spliff and Primark, pretending to be chavs, dolled up in faux-chic Working Class burberry, and taking the piss. That's the glc, and youknowsit.
But who is the joke on? You? Me? Them? Everybody?
I have no idea. What I do know is that "Greatest Hits" isn't that Great, and doesn't have that many hits on it ; consisting of a selection of re-recordings of old songs taken from their first 6, lowkey word-of-mouth albums. The music is dull, anodyne, tired. The lyrics? With ... Read More:

Another great album straight out of newport, not for the easily offended.
My personal favourite is song for Kelly,
All in the similar style of previous albums.
Well worth a listen, spend the money & buy a copy.

Let me start by declaring that I am a big fan of Goldie and his many fine moments. His remixes can be awesome (check out the "Completely trashed" remix of "Milk" by Garbage!). I loved the first album. But "Saturnz Return" is another thing altogether, and a real curate's egg. CD1 is the "very bad" option: "Mother" is basically a dull, self-absorbed, 60 minute dirge with a percussive section in the middle. The first five minutes alone is white noise, and not even interesting white noise at that. Then come mournful strings for a quarter of an hour and Goldie wailing over the top of it. Then some rather boring beats, given what he can normally do. The long lead-in and the even longer coda smack of a lack of ideas and structure, not some sort of D&B "modern ... Read More:

I had to stop playing 'Safe as f***' on my mp3 player when out on the street,as I could not stop pissing myself.Thank f*** that not every body is as funny as the 'G.L.C.'Up lifting geniuses.

there is a lot of, and I mean A LOT OF truly awful Jungle and Drum & Bass cds out there, most are vomit-worthy the songs are so bad. There is only a few, genuine, quality D&B gems that are worthy of prising money out of my wallet. This is yet another which is a big fat waste of cash.
Yes the opening tracks on both cds are classics, but that does not make up for filling the rest of the album with dog poo, all the other tracks are just complete nonsense. Stupid noises, poor poor songwriting and repeatedly annoying beats. When the title track is a real classic I suppose it makes so called artists think they can stick out an album to cash in on one songs appeal. Just make sure you are not another one of the fools who falls for it and just buy timeless on vinyl ... Read More:

If you've seen Goldie live then you'll understand his mixing skills (and most notably his ability to beatmatch) can often be described as patchy, but I find there are often those few inspired moments where it just seems to work for me. This certainly applies to this mix to some degree.
For starters, noone can discount the quality selection of dnb classics on offer here, especially the blend of old and new. I found disc 1 flowed quite nicely, but less so can be said about much of disc 2 which I found jarring and on the amateurish side at times (although it picks up towards the end).
The old Goldie magic is there in places, but most of the time I don't think his mixing comes across particulary well. It seemed little thought or planning had gone into how to make it ... Read More:

I've become addicted to this release ! The first CD contains mostly dark, hardstep stuff by Bad Company, Digital, Vegus, Fresh, etc. , but also Alex Reece's Pulp Fiction. The second CD isn't as good, but is alright enough. At first I didn't think much of it, now I love this compilation !
