Being quite a big reggae fan, I was very excited by hearing this album. I was new to Groundation, but having heard them, I am suprised that they are not much, much bigger. The album is forward thinking in a genre that sometimes tends to look backwards for ideas rather than for new ones. The vocalist, Harrison Stafford is fantastic, with a gravally sounding voice that uses toneful screeches and wailing to liven up the sound. The percussion and instrumentation are particually unique, with the former sounding almost African in places. Using instruments rare to reggae such as a real piano in a very subtle way adds to the suprise.

Again another classic from Groundation."Babylon rule Dem" and "picture on the wall" are amongst the best roots tracks ever made. Sublime vocals, lyrics & music to move the very base of your heart And soul. If you're a reggae fan this should be in your top 10 along with "We Free Again" another classic Groundation album.

Dub Wars

skin nor place of birth. These white guys from california have made it conscious and convincing once again.
Their singer and lead guitarist Harrison Stafford reads a course on reggae music history at San Diego University.
