This is by far and away one of the outstanding Jungle/Drum & Bass (whatever you want to call it) albums of all time I rushed to the shop and bought it on double vynal upon released and have never been dissapointed with it. There may have been level problems on the original and I haven;t heard this version (hope it's not the washed down one that followed on CD). I was sorely dissapointed with all the hoo hah about Goldies Timeless cos it ain anything compared to this.....if you haven't got it -buy it |
. Proto Acid: the Berlin Sessionsby: Guy Called Gerald Release Date October 09, 2006 Well you never quite know what to expect with AGCG and sometimes it can be a mixed bag. Not with this. From the start there is a rolling beat combined with crafted bubbling bleeps that pervade this album without ever becoming dull. It has to be listened to a complete piece of work as tracks come and go but all feel joined by a common theme. Bionick's review is spot on, this is classic acid house/techno re-invented 'but' has been made to feel fresh and rarely for me these days something that stands out. I really hope people pick up on this as it's very special from an artist that some may associate with something nostalgic. Leave Voodoo Ray behind and grab this. |

While most people have heard of him and his music, few people actually seem to own any of his records.This, however, is probably why he has made consistently exceptional records. He has maintained his independence from the fluctuating fads of the dance scene, even keeping faith with the apparently dead drum & bass scene. The result is a powerful collection of tracks that fit comfortably into any mood, that will leave you wondering why you ever overlooked this hugely talented producer who always seems to get his collaborations spot on. |
