Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone?

by: Harvey Danger

Release Date August 03, 1998
As is so often true, an album has a one or two great tracks and a lot of very average material. This is yet another one. I should have just bought Flagpole Sitta from iTunes. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad album, just not a great one either. Personal taste I suppose....

Flagpole Sitta

by: Harvey Danger

Release Date July 20, 1998
So you've heard the catchy tune 'flagpole sitta' and are thinking about immortalising it by buying the single. Good choice, but seriously, you might as well get the album now. Because, if you like flagpole then you will love what's on the album, I guaruntee it.

As for the single itself, I have no complaints whatsoever. Most excitingly about this single is that it has 'tragic hero' on it, a truly great harvey danger song, so is surely worth having, if only for collectable status.

Also, a very 'rare' CD, as is most HD stuff in the UK, they didn't get a fair chance at the UK market. So go on! Check out the album, very, very good material. Beautiful vocals, intelligent lyrics, kick ass bass, and a lovely mixture of hard rockin' ... Read More:

King James Version

by: Harvey Danger

Release Date September 12, 2000
Rightly entitled King James version, this album is meant to most faithfully reflect true Harvey Danger 'ness'. Absolute perfection in terms of amazing, witty, original lyrics, powerful bass lines, and clever little guitar riffs that will have you dancing the night away.

Some claim that this album can never match WHATMG because it lacks Flagpole Sitta. Those people could not be more wrong. Every song on this album is equal to, (if not better) than Flagpole. There's something for all musical tastes here; if you prefer harder rockin' then KJV offers you Authenticity, Carjack Fever, and Meetings with Remarkable Men. If you are one for the softer rock, then there's Why Im lonely, Pike St/park slope and The Same as Being in Love.

Little By Little

by: Harvey Danger

Release Date July 24, 2006
A couple of months ago I'd never heard of Harvey Danger, but an american internet radio station had 'Flagpole Sitta' on their playlist and it kept getting stuck in my head.

So I got Little by Little to see if they're any good. Initially I was disappointed, none of the songs have the immediacy of Flagpole Sitta, and the album needs a couple of listens.

However it's now up there as one of my favourite background albums, that is music I can sing along to whilst working without having to think too much.

Songs of note are the Ben Folds esque "Wine, Women and Song" and "Cream and Bastards Rise" as well as the decidedly melancholy "Diminishing Returns".

Overall well worth listening to, I'm now off to add a couple more ... Read More:
