Don't take drugs. Let Hawkwind take them for you. This was definitely the turning point. Riffs, chants, sounds, Space lyrics and in the middle of it all is the madness of 'Adjust Me'. Including the fan fave 'Master of the Universe' plus bonus single 'Silver Machine' and B-side '7 by 7' this could be all you need to begin your Hawkwind journey. Originally released in 1971, the Hawkwind had risen from the underground and were claiming ground on the surface. Fantastic!

This album is very good indeed. For anybody put off by the Hawkwind name - it's simply a jazz rock album - a heavy one - with a good dollop of string orchestration thrown in. Most of the songs are quite liberal with the instrumental portions, and all are very catchy and will have your foot tapping and head nodding in no time. Preferably long haired head with a beard but not imperative ;oD
What I don't understand is that Hawkwind rarely get a top mention on any rock nostalgia slots, whether on radio or TV. I guess they're considered as being outside of the mainstream rock artists - but when the music is this good surely that can't be right...????
So - still unsure of Hawkwind? Like Zeppelin? Like Cream? Like to try something different? ... Read More:

Hawkwind. The first Album. Think of the early seventies. No group like them. More progressive than the Floyd and while Floyd stabilised, Hawkwind tore at your ears. Music and Art screaming for head room and moulded into a direction. There is no single sound here and each track is it's own package. This was Hawkwind checking the boundaries. A must for fans.

This is a throbbing beast of an album. Tight enough to define it and loose enough to excite. An awesome live album, full of atmosphere. Some may prefer Turner, some may prefer Brock, but this is solid Hawkwind and they all shine. If you want to check out this group then this is a must. Put on the headphones, immerse, escape and absorb.

Originally released in 1975, this was the band's fifth studio album. It was also Lemmy's last lp with the band before he formed Motorhead soon there after. This superb reissue tags a bonus cut of the 'original' version of the song "Motorhead" with group founder Dave Brock on lead vocals. 'Warrior On The Edge Of Time' is a true progressive, space rock {call it what you like} underground classic. I know of several fans in the states who got to catch Hawkwind during this very U.S. tour. Co-founder Nik Turner's flute is well noticed through out 'Warrior' as he also provides the vocals on the recital "Standing At The Edge" and the ever quirky "Dying Seas". World reknown science fiction author Michael Moorcock recites on a couple of track as well - "The Wizard Blew His Horn" and ... Read More:

I got this album in 1978 after first discovering the classic Silver Machine on 12" in a Glasgow record shop. It won my ear on its way to my heart. Side 1 alone is a masterpiece. Spirit of the Age is poetry (no really, I've been reciting it for 30 years), Damnation Alley is hypnotic and Fabled of a Failed race has a wonderful etheral feel. I would say that, in the sequencing of the tracks on side 1 you are close to perfection. Side 2... well the title track is standout, fun and a great help in revision for science and history exams. Hassan I Sahba, I never got into but on revisit, rocks quite a bit. Forge of the Vulcan (instrumental) reminded me of early Human League and Toyota City. Days of the Underground and Iron Dream.. probably OK but not compared with the rest of the company. ... Read More:
