and they absolutely rocked. We loved the entire gig. They walk modestly onto stage and just started playing instead of the usual triumphalism you get from so many bands. They played almost all of the songs listed here, plus some Kiss numbers that I didnt know that well. Consummate musicians and modest too.

What can I say, we saw Hayseed live and they were GREAT, had to buy this album and I am still playing it all the time, now I'm off to purchase all of their cover cd's! I cannot wait to see them live again next year....they really should be bigger than they are!
Release Date April 09, 2007
Another great mix of rock (and now disco) covers and original songs all in the unique Hayseed Dixie style.
If you've ever been kept awake wondering how the Scissor Sisters or the Sex Pistols would sound if they'd be born a bunch of no-good, drinking, fighting, mountain dwelling moonshiners armed with banjos, mandolins and fiddles then this is the album that can give you the answer.
Release Date April 17, 2006
I like a range of music country, jazz, pop, rock, and metal. I enjoy bluegrass possessing albums by Alison Krauss, Emmy Lou Harris and several compilations as well as metal albums with the original AC/DC tracks. I appreciate both types of music and this was a must listen to album for me. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. Enjoying the orignal AC/DC rsions theses renditions added nothing. If you like metal do not buy this. If you like metal and bluegrass do not buy this. If you like bluegrass but not metal then this is probably worth a listen.

I saw these guys live, not really knowing what I was letting myself in for, as i was dragged along by some mates. I wouldnt say country was my thing at all, but this gig was something special. WE got right to the front, and the covers, esp War Pigs, blew me away. Kirby hill saw me shouting along with it. Listening to the cd again, i was somewhat disapointed, as hearing it live first was such a good experience, but i came around to it. Worth a look

One joke stretched to its' fullest extent - bluegrass cover versions of old songs. And here we have two spooky Hallowe'en themed covers, "Monster Mash" and "Bad Moon Rising". Shame their delivery is the scariest thing here!
Having heard some of the Hayseed's original material, the question's got to be why to they keep churning out these cover versions? The three other tracks, "Didn't Wake Up This Morning", "Dead Turkey In The Straw", and "Blackbirds And Crows", fare better than the covers, particularly "Dead Turkey".
If you like what Hayseed Dixie do, you'll like this - if you either don't like or don't know what they do, I can't recommend this EP to you!

You have to question the value of a comedy band doing cover version of comedy records. It just seems to be a step too far. And so it is, with this lamentable attempt at, one presumes, irony. Unless they really think that Bobby Picket and the Crypt-Kickers were serious the first time round.
So, this is a worthless release. The original was vaguely amusing, but this is beyond redemption. Although, their version of the Ted Nugent classic, "Cat Scratch Fever", which reappears here, remains worthy of repeated listening.

If you haven't heard the wonderous sound of Hayseed Dixie, I can highly recommend them. Kiss lyrics work especially well against the bluegrass sound... very redneck! Very tongue in cheek...
The strange thing about this album is the songs that you expect to be good ain't the best. Sure, "Detroit Rock City" is good, but the pretty mediocre "Let's Put The X in Sex" finds a new lease of life.
And hearing rock guitar solos on a banjo while the mandolin chugs out the rythmn is worth the admission price alone. If it's just a taste you want, try the excellent "Let There Be Rock Grass"... if you're a Kiss fan though, this is a must.
