Listening to the portentous opening, complete with harmony vocals (one of the strongest qualities on this album), I thought I was in for a treat listening to 'Keeper of the Seven Keys.' But if you're going to attempt a fantasy concept album, you'd better make sure it's imaginative. This certainly isn't. After the introduction the band launch into a fast, but unremarkable song, which is typical of the album as a whole. Helloween then try an experimental track, 'A Little Time,' but to little effect as the FX come and go too quickly to make any sense. 'Tale' shows what they're really capable of. Though it sounds like a so-called power ballad, the guitars are crystal clear and the lead vocalist stays within his range. Unfortunately, when he attempts ... Read More:

Here, in their third studio album, Helloween achieved their creative peak leading to the departure of group leader and guitarist Kai Hansen
I actually disagree with those that simply brand Helloween under the power metal banner. There is a second group that calls Helloween an Iron Maiden covers band. In my opinion, neither are true.
True that you have the twin guitar sound and the highest pitched vocals you'll ever hear (bar a certain Rob Halford) courtesy of a then very young Michael Kiske, but the album retains a very melodic sound throughout the whole record even brushing with glam metal in tracks like I Want Out.
Also, there is no power metal anywhere in sight as there are no orchestrations, multi voiced choruses ... Read More:

Well, what can I say? I've been a Helloween fan since the late 80's and in all honesty they have never sounded so godamn good!! I have followed the ups and downs of their career, the highs and the lows, but now, Helloween are truly at the top of their game.
The show kicks off with the amazing 'King For A Thousand Years', a rip roaring performance any band would be jealous of. It doesnt let up either as the classic 'Eagle Fly Free' kicks in. 'Hell Was Made in Heaven' is great too.
Then comes the 1st show stealer - 'Keeper of The Seven Keys', an epic song with the 6000 strong crowd hanging on every lyric, guitar solo and hook.
The show then slows down somewhat (but not for long) for 'A Tale That Wasnt Right'
The obligatory drum solo is next, ... Read More:

In my opinion, this is Helloween's best ever album! My favourite prior to this was still the quite dated 'Pumpkin Tracks' - a compilation of their most manic tracks. This beats it to a pulp - quite literally! I've played it continuously since I bought it about 3 weeks ago and only wish I'd bought it sooner.
The best track by far is the totally thrashtastic 'The Saints' which is 7 minutes long and played at a couple of hundred miles an hour. God knows how Dani (drummer) doesn't drop dead! Close second in my opinion is 'Kill It' - the only time I've ever heard Andi sing (some lines) in an evil voice - suits him. These two blinders are closely followed by 'Paint A New World', 'I.M.E.' and 'The Bells of the 7 Hells'. These are all fast and furious but ... Read More:

The first thing you think about when you see a band trying to hark back to their glory days is "they've obviously created a crap piece of work, and they need to link it to the glory days to help sell the thing"
Well, if you do think that then you're probably not that far off the mark.
A major word of warning here. If you are expecting to listen to part 3 of the wonderful Keeper albums then you are going to be VERY sorely disappointed. Deris is a fine vocalist, but why oh why do they have to go back to the Kiske era? Helloween have put out some fine tunes during the Deris era, so there's no need to do this. This album sounds nothing like Keepers, and was really misleading to the fans to label it as such.
There are a few decent tracks in this album. ... Read More:

Coming out from a law-suit after their label change and a huge line-up change which leaves legendary guitarist-songwriter Kai Hansen out of the band, Helloween come back with "Pink Bubbles Go Ape". A record which was bashed by music critics due to the fact that the band changed their music to a small effect when compared to their highly praised Keeper Of The Seven Keys records.
"Pink Bubbles..." admitably has a really strange, even silly title but this is not the case with the song writing. The music departs a bit from the continuous double-bass drumming stile and is enriched with more progressive and at parts mainstream ideas. Some songs are softer than the usual tracks found on the Keeper records reminding more of heavy metal than power metal, but that's not a drawback for sure. ... Read More:
