The violinist Hilary Hahn has is one of the great violinists of her day and has been in high demand in the UK ever since her debut at the Proms (on the last night) and her feature in BBC Music Magazine. It was with great anticipiation that I learned she was to be recording the Stravinsky and Brahms concertos with a British orchestra. However, upon listening to the CD I was greatly disappointed by the standard of the orchestral accompaniment - some of the worst I have heard. Marriner's Stravinsky is restrained and the timbre too dark for the vibrant interpretation of Hahn.
