What a fantastic record. Hot Chocolate made some absolutely marvellous records & this collection is testament to that fact.
The songs are smooth as silk, funky, sexy, saucy,bitter & sweet. The musicianship is fantastic,as is the production & if Errol's voice was a business, I reckon Ann Summers would be bankrupt.
You do forget with some bands how much quality they produced & Hot Chocolate are probably for many people, one of those bands. I thoroughly enjoy this record, its pure quality (& its a tip top party record too !)
A must own - no, really, it is !!

The Very Best of Hot Chocolate

The UK band Hot Chocolate were regular visitors to the UK Top Ten right through the 1970s. Emma from about 1974 is a passionate dirge that tells the tragic story of Emmaline and So You Win Again was their huge top 5 hit from 1978. My other favourites here include You Sexy Thing, I'll Put You Together Again and their other massive hit, Every 1's A Winner.

The lead singer's smooth warm voice wraps itself perfectly around the synth-based instrumentation and all of the songs are tuneful and memorable. Hot Chocolate were perhaps the UK's premier soul band in the seventies, consistently scoring hits, even during the disco era when they mastered the form in their song Disco Queen.

Greatest Hits Vol.1: 14 Greatest Hits

This collection only takes us up to 1976, so is missing later classics like 'So You Win again', 'Ain't No Doubt About It' and 'So You Win Again'. The big plus is the inclusion of several great early singles, such as ' Rumours', 'Cheri Babe', 'You'll Always Be A Friend' and the superb 'Man To Man', which aren't included on the full career Greatest Hits CD. A great buy for any Hot Chocolate fan.

Greatest Hits Vol.2: More Hot Chocolate Greatest Hits

Hot Chocolate were a great pop band who made some fantastic music, in my opinion too underated by todays standards, when you pitch these guys up against some other bands they just blow them away, there music has always in my opinion been accessable without being tight to a genre, i disagree with the description of a previous reviewer that they were the first black group (british) to go far infact they were a mixed lot of black and white hence the name hot chocolate, i personally don't care for colour in music if the music is good to my ears then it's good enough to join my collection.
Anyways please try out the A&B's & Rarities cd by hot chocolate the music is even better than the mainstream stuff.

The UK band Hot Chocolate were regular visitors to the UK Top Ten right through the 1970s. I Believe (In Love) from 1971 is an oh so gentle, wistful song with melodious organ lines and a male voices that caresses the soul, Emma from about 1974 is a passionate dirge that tells the tragic story of Emmaline and So You Win Again was their huge top 5 hit from 1978.
