Shamrocks and Shenanigans - The Best of House of Pain

by: House Of Pain

Release Date June 07, 2004
Admitedly, there is a fine selection of tracks from both House Of Pain and Everlast here. However, why were they mixed in the first place? Everlast's solo material is a deliberate move away from House Of Pain and the two styles do not sit together as well as it seems they might. Also, why are there 2 versions of 'Jump Around'? Why 3 tracks from Everlast's first (poor) solo album? Where is 'Legend' that was not on any House Of Pain album and where are the tracks from the 3rd album 'Truth Crushed To Earth...'?
All in all, a sloppily put together attempt to cash in. Not bad, but could have been so much better.

House of Pain

by: House Of Pain

Release Date November 01, 1992
The House of Pain's debut self titled album is a true classic of the Hip-Hop genre and in my opinion it is a must have, especially if you are a fan of early Cypress Hill, Limp Bizkit et all. The single Jump Around brought worldwide attention to the Irish-American trio who have now split to follow different paths musically, frontman Everlast now making decent blues records, and DJ Lethal is currently with Limp Bizkit. "House Of Pain" has a definite Irish/New York influence to it, more than their other 2 albums, and Everlast's grating vocals suit the lyrics and beats perfectly. If you liked the energy and stomp that the anthemic "Jump Around" had back in the day then there's plenty more stompers on this record - "Danny ... Read More:

Jump Around

Release Date May 05, 1992
Listen to the best song made by House Of Pain. Dj Lethal from Limp Bizkit and Erik Schrody otherwise known as Everlast where both in this great rap band and if you dont have this single you are not a fan. The greatest rap song ever made, I do not know one single person that hates this song. When I saw Everlast live on April 6th at The London Astoria her played this song and evberyone went mental even the shops nearby. Its got amazing lyrics and an amzing tune with one of the best beats I have ever heard. This song was seriously inspirational to every other white rapper you can name. If you consider Eminem to be the first best white rapper I strongly suggest you by this single because you will not feel the same way afterwards

Shamrocks & Shenanigans

by: House of Pain

Release Date November 17, 1992
this tune easily surpasses the classic club/party jam, jump around. Although filled with dumb macho lyrics like "I always got a gun/ but i never wear a vest" the jam still kicks. Lethal cuts up the decks with old blues riffs and the scratching is put into the forefront. The remixes on this are also great with muggs bringing out the funk from his trunk !! flip this on at a party and the crowd will go crazy fonk!

Same As It Ever Was

by: House Of Pain

Release Date June 01, 1994
House of Pain made a decent album here with mad beats, crazy and angry rhyming, similar to Cypress Hill (Muggs produced this album). Using this style of hip hop, Pain were a decent group before they split up when they did tracks like 'I'ma swing it' and the immortal 'Jump Around'.

The album opens up with the squeeking trumpet noise of 'Back from the dead'. Everlast kicks some decent lyrics on this track by starting off with "straight out the casket alive/ and open ya eyes/ can't ya see me? what the f--- is this madness?/ pick up my bones/ erase my name from off the tombstone". The fun really gets going with the head nodding 'I'ma swing it' which has a similar angry lyrical theme, "I make em jump n mosh/oh my gosh/just ... Read More:

Truth Crushed to Earth Shall Rise Again

by: House Of Pain

Release Date September 08, 2003
This is actually my favourite House of Pain album. If the first two albums are raw and in-your-face, this is a far more mellow album. There is a certain warmth to the songs absent particularly in the 2nd album which can get grating after a while with the relentless pounding agressive beats and basslines. This is the House of Pain album for you if you like your hip-hop chilled. I like most songs on here, the obvious standouts are the two versions of Fed Up, but I also particularly like Shut the Door, Pass the Jinn, and Earthquake.
