Similar to !!! & LCD Soundsystem but with more of a dance slant than an indie one. It is a much more listenable album than STREET DAD was (or indeed the two bands mentioned ealier), as each track is more focused and uses simple ideas but manages to sound complex (more like !!! in that respect), and that's what makes this album so great. It's like Leftfield's Leftism in that it's a dance album that you can listen to at home on your stereo. Leftfield's album was the pinnacle of dance/electronic music in the nineties and this deserves to be considered as the pinacle of noughties thus far. so im one of those people who doesnt do hip hop/rap and all thhe other stuff combined into that genre. yet, this is something else totally...apparently this is a few members from !!! and a bunch of other people, so with that youcan, or at least should be able to imagine that this is immensly dancable... and hell it is! this is my first listen, and reading the garb on the back of the pomo, i honestly wasnt expecting this.

opening with the intense 'story of the whole thing' it sounds relativly cool and chilled out. which in a way i guess it is, but instantly the next track grabs you by the throat with its pounding techno breakbeat that just explodes and breaksdown almost at random throught the length of the track. its stunning and so ... Bizarrely considering their very similar backgrounds and shared band members this is the only split release that Out Hud and !!! have done together. The !!! track, whilst giving glimpses of what was to come, tends to sound too much like an 11 ½ minute jam, and seems to loose all interest before you get halfway through...
The main reason to pick this release up is for the 3 Out Hud tracks. always the more dub-influenced and experimental of the 2 bands, the 3 remixes on this EP are in their typical reverb-rich dub/funk instrumental style, and given the once-over by live-sound mixer/producer Justin Vandervolgen.
Whilst both bands would go on to produce much better works, this release serves as a facinating glimpse into the origins of 2 of ... Read More:
