I only discovered Buena Vista with the free Movie cd with my Sunday Times a couple of weeks ago and Ibrahim Ferrer is just an undiscovered Legend in my books. Well, up till the last few years of his life. GET THIS!!!

Mi Sueno

The world outside Cuba discovered Ibrahim Ferrer's soft, smoky vocals through the release of the Grammy-winning "Bueno Vista Social Club" released on the World Circuit/Nonesuch label. Ferrer sang four of the 12 non-instrumental tunes on the album. With Ry Cooder, he later recorded two further CD's for the label (in 1999 and 2003, respectively.)

Ibrahim Ferrer's favourite musical form was the "bolero." In 2005, he set out to record an album featuring only such pieces. Ferrer died in August 2005 before having completed the project.
However, he left behind high-quality demos, which received some posthumous instrumental overdubbing. Together with the beautiful "Melodía del Río", a 1998 track produced by Ry Cooder, these ... Read More:

Buenos Hermanos

Much better than Mambo Sinuendo and Buena Vista SC

A really mature record, this will go down as one of my favourite records.

Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban play brilliantly together
in sharp contrast (I think Manuel Galban has the edge)
Ferrier best of all... a classic.

La Coleccion Cubana

I am pleased to have discovered Ibrahim Ferrers wonderfull voice on this cd.
He is singing with that feeling of cuban lifestyles that brings me back in my mind , because I was lucky to hear him a live in Berlin this summer, and he is giving me that feeling back, when I am listening to the cd, as I am back in concerts in Berlin.
I also got Buenos Hermanos, and hopes he will produce several cd`s yet.
