It's a long time since I've heard an album that has excited me as much as this.
Her vocals are great and partner the guitars superbly. The lyrics are good fun, particularly for a foreign band writing in English.
There is not one track that is bad. I am happy that at last this year we have a fantastic debut album, and indeed a guitar based band, where every song is not just a re-incarnation of the famous chart song that made the band famous.
I love it; make this a 'Must Listen' and you'll be hooked after one listen.

This series, produced by EMI in the days of LPs, is one of the great achievements of the gramophone - they rightfully belong up there with the Decca Ring, the EMI Callas series, and any other candidates you care to name. Together they provide a truly comprehensive survey of singing right through the age of recording up to the early days of the LP. Sadly, to the best of my knowledge, only Volumes 3 & 4 have appeared on CD - the very earliest era of recording and the period up to the introduction of electrical recording methods that were originally on Volumes 1 and 2 really deserve to be heard again.
Volume 3, the collection under discussion here, covers the period from 1926-1939. This was a veritable Golden Age of Singing ... Read More:

I have to admit a bias: I knew Dino Borgioli in his last years and studied under him, But puting that aside, I was delighted to hear again his exquisite technique and sensitive musicianship in such a wide range of settings. Technically brilliant in Rossini, lyric in Faust and the singing of 'Do not go, my love' beautiful! Despite the age of the originals (78s!) and the 'record hiss' not being fully eliminated this recording is a must for lovers of bel canto. Robin Close.
