produced by phil spector need i say anymore love phil spector the wall of sound this album flopped in america but in britain it was successful see britain knows talent when it sees it!! tracks that i love on here are of course river deep mountain high,everyday i have to cry,fool in love,save the last dance for me the whole album is fab too be honest though but there the ones that stand out for me the sound quality isant the best but thats the whole idea to have that old sound it was made in the 60s classic buy it!!

Blue and Sentimental is perhaps his masterpiece featuring Paul Chambers on Bass, Philly Joe Jones on drums and Grant Green on guitar and the spaces sing as sweetly as the music.

Quebec is an unsung hero of Blue Note, first recording with them in 1944 he acted amongst many other things as a talent scout introducing countless up and coming names to Blue Note - including Dexter Gordon.

There are many inexpensive Ike & Tina compilations on the market but until recently they had always dated from a slightly later period than their Sue labels recordings, which Stateside have now released, almost in full, on this and its companion, The Soul Of Ike And Tina Turner/Dynamite. Apart from a few singles, most are appearing on CD for the first time.
These two albums were released by Sue in 1963, by which time they had effectively left the label, having stockpiled a great deal of material over the previous two years despite touring for 22 of the 24 months.
Don't Play Me Cheap, named after the only single taken from the album, has a sound that is distinct from the two earlier albums, with more prominent horns, flutes and strings. This ... Read More:

Recorded in 1962 this classic selection of laid back bossa and samba proved to be an epitaph for Quebec who died shortly after the recording. He plays with such warmth and sensitivity that perhaps he knew this was the culmination of his life in jazz.

It is a beautiful album which adds 3 tracks to the original release of 9 laid back classics with the rhythm section giving a masterclass in understated but solid suport.

For fans of Jazz or Latin or Brazil this is a must.

I heard Ike promoting this CD on the Jonny Walker program, with excepts of Rocket 88. It just stuck with me. Finally got hold of a copy through Amason. Fully worth it, Ike is much underated, it's great Rock and Roll. It's absolutly great for driving music on the motorway. Some of the tracks are a bit the same, not every one a classic. But it stays in my car is always in the top 5 rotation.
